For the first time in years....

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
Sitting in the livingroom reading the Quran in silence, wondering about something i was reading. So i deside to ask.

Allah, i dont understand, what can i do to gain your wisdom. And the warmest feeling spread in my body, so calm and relaxed, so i gain the feeling of reading the chapter again. And now i see the meaning behind the words. I suddenly understood the message.

For the first time in years i feel i have progress as a religioues person. And i see that i was missing the messages previously, i was focusing on the wrong things. My listening skills was not there before.

Have you had similar experience in your spiritual journey? Or am i only to excited about the new teaching?

I don't see the excitement as a bad thing; just make sure that you stay reading carefully and keep asking questions. I think the excitement leads you to have a drive to ask those questions, so hopefully it will give you the kick you need to learn a lot.

To your first question, yep.

To the second question, mine was more that of near total confusion for almost two years until it got sorted out at a church service almost three hours away from my home, whereas repeated "premonitions" kept telling me to go there. Blew my mind, and it still does at times, and it certainly has changed my life over the last 5 or so years, let me tell ya.

Again, good luck on your journey, and let me suggest that you just go with the flow. If you have a strong feeling that you should do something in particular, first judge it to make sure that it's moral, and if you decide that it is, do it and not made excuses not to.

Vaya con Dios, my friend.

Like guitar modes! Been struggling for almost a year to really wrap my mind around them. Knew what they were but never quite understood the why and how. But last Wednesday morning while taking my weekly shower it was like a light going off. I simply found myself thinking backwards instead of forwards about the tricky devils and "voila", as they say in your neck of the woods. Now if someone says "...this is in Am Aeolian..." or "B flat Mixolidian..." I'll know what scales work for the leads. I know, I know, this is somewhat irrelevant to the post, but what the hey...I'm stoked.

Thank you for the kind words @metis yes it is an exciting time in my life. So much happening, especially the feeling of finding the truth in a teaching i would never touch.....
But how wrong i was before, so many people who speak bad about Islam, and here i am finding more peace then ever before.

And this is largely because that for so many people the only thing they read or hear about Islam is when something seriously happens that's bad, especially because of some of the more radicalized Islamic elements. It's like judging Christianity based on the actions of the KKK here in the States or the Wars of Religion that plagued Europe.

BTW, many of my students were Muslim, and I got along well with them to the point of being invited to some of their weddings. And at that time I was a member of a synagogue, and my students knew this.

I think media has some of the blame too, they have not painted a good picture of Islam for many years.

My tradition teaches that the key to the mysteries is paying attention. It's remarkably simple, yet more complicated than might first appear. Often, we can't pay attention. We can't listen. We can't see. Then, all in a moment, it comes. In Druidry we sometimes call it Awen, or a divine flow of inspiration. Others might just call it an epiphany, or perhaps a divine revelation. By whatever name we call, it leaves one changed. A mystery is known and understood. It's not something that can be put into words - hence calling them mysteries - but experienced by paying attention in the right way.

Congrats.

Actually from my perspective too many people have these experiences from the perspective of the their own beliefs, and there are many many diverse conflicting beliefs.

If you meet Buddha on the path kill him!!!

My ;satori' awakening was that: 'Oh sh**! What ever I believe I am most likely wrong in some way.' We are all fallible humans with a limited perspective.'

It's because humans are different individuals and have differing spiritual needs and perspectives. Do you honestly expect a one size fits all approach to religion?

This went way over your head. Please reread my post. Your conclusion is the opposite from what I said, and make a coherent response!

There is NOT one size fits all approach to religion.

as far back as my memory goes....

I was sitting on the floor with my arms on the sill
a little boy out of bed when I'm suppose to be sleeping
looking out into the night sky
watching the cars go by
my dad using a blow torch in the gas station next door
the station lights showing off the family business

mosquitos on the window screen trying to get in

all of the light
the stars
the torch
the cars

and it must have been my grandmother who told me.....God is creator

and I said to myself....if God made all of this
He must truly be wonderful

a chill ran over me...goosebumps and all
in spite of the warm summer breeze

Friend Amanaki,

Recently you turned from some another religion to Islam. I respect Islam, and have NO question why you converted, but, still I feel like asking you a question, and I hope you will NOT mind asking that.

Since how long you are in touch with Islam and its teachings ? was that even before you came to "RF" ?

Thank you in advance.
