With the invention of the internet, and fast air travel we saw the world being reduced to a neighbourhood where all nationalities, cultures, races and religions can now communicate & intermingle with one another across borders and boundaries as one entity - humanity. These borders that really only exist in our minds are now, through technology being torn down.

But what of the covid virus? Isn’t that forcing us to stay in long periods of lockdown and separating us instead of uniting us? I say not, definitely.not. I say it represents one of the most crucial elements of world unity and world peace because it is achieving what nothing else so far has been able to do and that is ‘universal bonding’.

Whereas in the past, the crises was between certain countries regionally or locally, this calamity is truly universal in its nature, causing all humanity as one entity to go through the same suffering TOGETHER.

In the history of many great nations, a period of suffering or bonding was crucial to bring about unity.

I believe that we as humanity, are now undergoing a common bonding which is preparing us to become a world community, a world civilisation. What do you think?

I think this cycle has befallen us before. This time however, we are up against something far more all-encompassing and reaching. We are on the verge of something. Either birth, or death. I hope birth. But we seem to also crave death. Will that "final battle" ever be won? I wonder.

Good points windwalker. If we scan the evolution of history we see that man has socially evolved progressively from the family, tribe to the city-state then nation, all fully accomplished and achieved. The next stage then of our social evolution is naturally into a world society.

As for the suffering? Could it not be both the death pangs of the old world and the birth pangs of the new? The struggle before us, now it seems, is that there are those who desperately want to cling to the old ways and those who hunger for a new world of universal peace and brotherhood.

I vote for world peace! But I'm not so optimistic. It takes a wise love that goes beyond the ordinary loves. On top of that it takes knowledge and work that doesn't go unrewarded. And most importantly it takes just judgment.

It would take God. This world by nature cannot be ideal nor supreme. Every generation must fight ignorance, evil, complacency, human error, and natural disasters.

It would be great if the Earth did unite on an international level. But that's a monumental task. No one wants to be ruled like Russia, or China does it.

I see world peace is inevitable.

I see it will be built out of tribulation when we learn the only way is to do it as one human race under the umbrella of our diversity.

I definitely believe that the world is being set up for a new arrangement.....but according to the Bible, it isn't what you might imagine....There is a "one world government" waiting in the wings, waiting to take control in an out of control world.....but is it what humanity needs?

There are some favorables like cheap electricity, antivirus progress, music, air conditioning, automobiles. Not everything is favorable, but there is a chance.

It may come down to something very simple like food recipes and entertainment. People are very strange, so its hard to say what will satiate people.

History, sociology and psychology tell us that we have extreme difficulty defining "us" without a contrasting "them". So, without an alien invasion there is little we can do to unite earth. Except, possibly, by creating the aliens ourselves. When we seriously start to colonize space, there might form an "earth" fraction in opposition to one or more "space"/"alien" fraction(s).

I am not sure it will be possible, i dont say it cant happen. But humans are to devided and to different because of culture and religions and non religions where the "battle" for being the right one or strongest one seems to over power the wish for harmony and peace . Just look at all the turmoil in the world today because of disagreements.

I wish all humans could be friendly toward one and other, but history say something else.

In the early 1990's there was 235 countries and later in the 1900's there was Baha'i in all of them. Bit like as the lightning flashes from East to West, so shall the coming of the Son on man will be.

Baha'u'llah has offered this to humanity as a whole;

"…ye walk on My earth complacent and self-satisfied, heedless that My earth is weary of you and everything within it shunneth you…"

We have been told we are intrinsically knitted to nature and our collective spiritual health is reflected in nature.

As such, we are also warned about this;

".. So I see the OP is talking about what will be, that as the old world collapses, the new world is indeed showing signs of emerging and in the end, this is the promise;
