Who was the "Us" at Gen 1:26?

Depends on the religion. In the early parts of the Bible, people believe the high god El had an assembly of gods, which Yahweh, the Hebrew god, was one. In the LDS religion, it's Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. Not sure who they are in Muslim religion.

Have you ever actually read that story, since none of that changes the fact that the story in Gen 1:26-27 only says that the male creator god created HIM in HIS image and likeness, but does not say that the male creator god also created HER in HIS image and likeness, nor cattle-kind or whale-kind. So presumably the male creator god created HER in the image and likeness of one of the goddesses at the fantasy meeting of gods described in Gen 1:26.

And it's your choice if you want to believe that the creator god created cattle-kind and whale-kind and unicorns in his image and likeness. and that it took Adam and his genetically identical partner also named Adam 130 years to first become pregnant since they couldn't work out who was Arthur and who was Martha (Gen 5:1-3). But I stopped believing in Santa and fantasies over 65 years ago, and believe that we evolved from a common ancestor with chimps.

You know it makes sense!!!

Had you read Verses 26 and 27 of
The book of Genesis chapter one.

Where as in Verse 26, God created man in his image and in his likeness.

The Hebrew translation for ( man)
Is ( mankind)
So therefore God created mankind in his image and after his likeness.

And then in Verse 27 you would have found God created them male and female..

None of that changes the fact that Gen 1:27 clearly says that only "he" was made in "his" image and likeness, but does not say that "she" was made in "his" image and likeness too. So presumably "she" was made in "her" image and likeness given that the bible says that woman-kind is a different kind to man-kind (Lev 18).as is whale-kind and cattle-kind.

Genesis 1:27 clearly states.
That God created them male and female..

Genesis 1:27--"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them"

The Hebrew translation for man is Mankind.
There God created mankind in his image after his likeness. Created them male and female.

In other words the fantasy story in Gen 1:26-27 says that the male creator god created "him" in "his" image and likeness, but does not say that the male creator god created "her" in his image and likeness also, which is why the bible says that womankind is a different kind to mankind as in Leviticus 18:22. So presumably the male creator god created "her" in the image and likenesses of one of the goddesses at the meeting described in Gen 1:26.

22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

I'm a little confused. In the Hebrew below could you point out which is the word "mankind" and which word is "womankind"?

Dunno, I'm only pointing out what the KJV says, and it doesn't say that the female person was created in the image and likeness of the male creator god too, and that the KJV differentiates between the words mankind and womankind in Leviticus 18:22 and says that only male persons belong to mankind and female persons belong to womankind, even though males are just modified females.

The "Us" is the Person/Being of the Father speaking to the Person/Being of the Son, while the Person/Being of the Holy Ghost witnessed.

In Genesis,

"God said ..." is the Person/Being of the Father.

"God made ..." is the Person/Being of the Son, Amening the will of the Father and carrying His will out.

"God saw/moved ..." is the Person/Being of the Holy Ghost, witnessing and moving.

See John 1:1-3; Proverbs 8:22-36; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:1-3; 1 John 1:1-3, &c.

JEHOVAH is the family name. Like Smith or Jones.

Think of it (earthly-wise) like, Father Smith, Junior Smith and Uncle Smith.

JEHOVAH the Father the Ancient of Days.

Jesus JEHOVAH the Son, the Son of Man.

The Holy Ghost/Spirit of JEHOVAH.

I don't want to enter this specific debate theme between Mitty and RabbiO other than to point out that leviticus 18:22 says "And you shall not go to bed with a man sexually (as the word κοιτην indicates) "in a feminine manner", for it is an abomination." grk = και μετα αρσενοσ ου κοιμητησην κοιτην γυναικειν βδελυγμα γαρ εστιν.

The actual meaning is not "womankind" in that sense, but a man (not mankind) is not to have have sex with a man (in the same way or manner that he would with a woman.)

The word used in leviticus in LXX is not specifically "womankind" or "woman" but "woman-like" (i.e. in the manner of women) as opposed say to "γυναικείο φύλο" (woman-kind that is the "type" that is made of women).

EARLY CHRISTIAN (ADAM = MAN) VERSUS EARLY JEWISH (ADAM=ADROGYNUS) TRADITION
The early Christian tradition was that Adam was male ONLY and this is NOT the same as the early Jewish tradition that Adam was androgynous and was created with both sets of sexual organs.

WHO THE "US" IS.
Early Christian literature indicates, it is the pre-incarnated Jesus in this sentence (though the sentence doesn't negate others being present) the God the Father is speaking to when he says "us".

“For the Scripture speaks about us when he says to the Son: “Let us make man according to our image and likeness, and let them rule over the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air and the fish of the sea.” And when he saw that our creation was good, the Lord said: “Increase ad multiply and fill the earth.” These things he said to the Son". The Epistle of Barnabas 6:12;

While the modern Jews tend to consider that the words, " Come, let Us make man," as referring to God and the angels, the Fathers of the Syrian Church understood that God refers to the Three Persons of the Trinity. Cave of Treasures (cf chapt on Creation of Adam);

To those who are familiar with the archonitc traditions, others were involved. For example, “To him the holy, perfect Father, the First Man in the Form of a man. The Blessed One revealed his appearance to them, and they whole archontic group of the seven Authorities gave permission. They saw in the water the appearance of the image, and they said to one another, ‘Let us make a man, after the image and after the appearance of God’...They created it after the image which they had seen, by way of an imitation of him who was from the beginning the Perfect Man.” The Secret Book of John (The birth of Adam and Eve) ;
