Some musings about the relative complexity of the human brain:
This article: https://today.uconn.edu/2018/03/complicated-object-universe/ quotes theoretical physicist Michio Kaku, who had declared:
“The human brain has 100 billion neurons, each neuron connected to 10,000 other neurons. Sitting on your shoulders is the most complicated object in the known universe.”
(my emphasis)
Well, I believe there are things that have been previously unknown to us but that are now becoming known, and that these things are notably more complex than the human brain. Allow me to explain...
Here is a pic of Jane Goodall with a chimpanzee. She is famous for living amongst such creatures. She actually the first person to observe them using tools:
Here is a drawing of some "Greys" interacting with a human, as imagined by an artist. Some people claim the "Greys" (named after their grey complexion) are extra-terrestrials, from other planets, but I think they are the Over-Seers of The Simulation, as they appear when they plug themselves into The Simulation (which I believe they sometimes do):
When Jane Goodall wanted to study chimpanzees she went to Africa and lived amongst some of them.
I believe that when our friends The Greys wanted to study humanity they built The Simulation.
There are still groups of chimpanzees living in the wild, although there are probably many more living in zoos and safari parks.
However, I believe humans are extinct in the universe outside The Simulation, and the whole point of The Simulation is to re-create humankind. The greys therefore re-created humankind. Or at least, they are simulating humankind!
"The Greys" are to us as we are to Chimpanzees. And they have developed super-human artificial intelligence what is massively superior to any biological intellect. Indeed, it is super-human.
My point being...
This (see pic below) is not the most complex thing in the known universe, even though these things themselves may carry on arrogantly thinking they are.
But maybe they can claim the distinction of being the most arrogant things in the universe!
What do I think is the most complex thing in the known universe?
I'd say this simulated universe, that we are all parts of.
There are at least 7,000,000,000 human minds that are all conscious and that all need simulating - and that's just those who live in The Simulation who reside on planet Earth! And all the animal minds would need simulating too. And much of the physical world. It is an incredible feat of engineering.
It must take a lot of computing power, and they have obviously solved the problem of consciousness - as we are all conscious!
As Arthur C Clarke said:
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
Thinking along the same lines, I believe:
The over-seers of any sufficiently detailed simulation are indistinguishable from God, to those who reside within their simulation.
I believe humankind is entering into a period of "disclosure", in which the simulated nature of reality will begin to become apparent. When this happens, our brains won't be able to carry on pretending to each other that they are the most complex things that exist.
When this happens our brains will be truly humbled.
