Is the 1st birth the physical birth? And the 2nd birth is spiritual birth? Enlightenment?

Birth means birth. Not understanding something or believing in something. Jesus was called the firstborn from the dead. Notice - from the dead. Jesus was in the tomb for three days just like a baby is in the womb for nine months. Jesus emerged from the tomb just as a baby emerges from the womb. The rest of humans will also emerge from their tombs when Jesus returns and gives them a new birth and new spiritual life.

Doesn't that sound nice! A question, though: will I come out with or without my tonsils and gall-bladder? Will my spine surgery be reversed? What age will I be? I mean, I'd hate to be recreated in the shape I am now -- I'd much prefer some years ago.

Another question -- what is "a new spiritual life?" What does one do in such a thing? I would imagine that 860 quadrillion-heptazillion years just singing praises to God could get a little tedious (after about the first 40 minutes), so is there anything else? Will anybody be making new movies to keep us entertained, or will it be the same thing on and on and on and on forever? And how are you looking forward to that?

Maybe you need religion to understand.

I know you did not ask these questions in any form of sincerity, but I would like to tell you what the Bible says anyway....this is how I see the future....

The general resurrection is for "the righteous and the unrighteous" (John 5:28-29) but a never ending death is what God has reserved for the 'wicked'. (Matthew 10:28) Thankfully we are not the ones who determine who is in any of those categories. There is an appointed judge for that job. He will determine all our futures.

When Jesus walked the earth he was known for healing the sick and raising the dead...a small scale foregleam of what was to come when his Kingdom finally rules all redeemed mankind. So it stands to reason that those raised will be intact and fully recognizable as themselves. What would be the point of raising someone with the cancer that killed them? Or forming a new body with bits missing? Imagine the reunions of those who have lost loved ones in death...? A new start with a healthy body and no death or sickness to take them away from us. Sounds good to me...

That depends on which resurrection one experiences.....the "first resurrection" (Revelation 20:6) is for a chosen "few" who will assist Christ in returning mankind back into an acceptable relationship with God. These ones are chosen by God, not themselves. It is for the purpose of reconciliation, and according to God, it will take some time.....we are a long way from perfection.

The general resurrection is for those who will live on the earth. (John 5:28-29) Mostly these will be pre-Christian servants of God and those who are not chosen for life in heaven. Many Christians on earth will be among them, but not all. (Matthew 7:21-23)

The Bible tells us that God originally intended the first humans to "fill the earth and subdue it".
So we have two groups with two different roles. Ones is governmental and the other is as populators and landscape gardeners.

We don't choose our own destiny but it is chosen for us. Personally I prefer the earthy role because I love to see ugly areas transformed into beautiful parks and gardens. The gardeners among us will agree I'm sure that that will be paradise. It will mean hard work coupled with joyous harvests and celebration of life generally...always expressing gratitude for the privilege of living there. This was God's purpose all along, but it got hijacked by rebels. He is in the process of sorting them out and testing us as well.

Those who go to heaven have a specific role....they will not be sitting on clouds harping away all day, but will have important managerial roles to play, leading the way for humans on earth to come back to God and to enjoy a close relationship with him forever. They act as priests too, so it will be a dual role for them, assisting us here on earth. And who knows what God has planned for his vast Universe.....? Perhaps intergalactic travel and populating other worlds is on his agenda...? I can't wait to find out.

Its not all that far fetched for me.....it resonates with what I would love life to be.

You would last 40 minutes! I would not last more than 2 minutes. I prefer hell to that. :)
I can't wait to find out.

I sincerely desire that your wishes be fulfilled ASAP. Inter-galactic travel and preaching for your God not just in this world but beyond it.

Being born again is when our soul/spirit is joined to the Spirit of Christ and we receive life from Him and become His children.
The resurrection is when the our bodies are born again also and become immortal.
I don't think this is said in the Bible to happen to everyone.
