I thought that this was interesting. No political jabs at all, just stating that LaPierre and other leaders of the NRA have been skimming off NRA funds for their own personal uses to the tune of many millions of dollars.
A graft/embezzlement sort of suite. I don’t get how that means “dissolve the NRA” though.

Trump of course is calling it a political attack.

I feel similarly. Not sure why they wouldn't just individually go after the leadership rather than try to dissolve the entire org. I'm sure there are probably plenty of rank and file NRA members who wouldn't want their donations/membership fees misused for personal enrichment of the executive board.

I'm with the other two posters. We'll see how this unfolds although I can predict at least some responses from certain individuals.

Interesting development.
I also think that she won't be able to dissolve the NRA because of embezzlement of the leadership. But pretty sure they'll lose their tax exempt status.

:eek::eek::eek:
They’re tax exempt?
Why? They are neither a charity or a religion (to most).

"Ms James alleges that the gun lobby is rife with corruption and no longer has the right to call itself a non-profit charity" - from the BBC article you linked.

As long as it's not politically mov\tivate, although I'm not sure how that could be determined. If a crime has been committed, the people responsible need to be held accountable. Though not sure why go after the organization itself. I'd suspect the organization itself would want the house cleaning

YAY!

I hope they don't convict until after Wednesday, January 20, 2021 that way Trump will not be able to pardon them.

The leadership as well as the board are elected by the members of the organization. If the leadership is able to embezzle money multiple years in a row, the oversight didn't work. That's on the organization, not only on the frauds. Yes, you can be responsible for getting robbed.

So, blame the victim?

Yes. Being too lazy with oversight is a crime.
The NRA, as an organization, has been granted tax exempt status. Violating the rules that come with that (i.e. using tax exempt donations for personal gain) is a crime done by the organization. The organization is responsible for electing a trustworthy treasurer and a trustworthy auditor. If they fail, they have to live with the consequences (loss of tax exempt status, back taxes). The back taxes alone could force them to dissolve if the attempt by the AG fails.

Ok, for myself, I don't like victim mentality anyway. Just legally it may make it look political and from the perception provide an escape for even the actual embezzlers.

I don't know enough about US law to say if the call to dissolve has any legal merit. It looks political to me, too. But back taxes and loss of status seems to be possible, even probable.

I also don't see how it could dissolve the NRA, although even if it did, there'd be nothing to prevent it from reorganizing into something different.

BLM and Antifa aren't organizations, and Stormfront is just a message board.
