Do you care?

Why?

Do I care? Nope. . . . . . Why? Because I make a judgement on just about every person I come in contact with. Will I take this person home to meet my wife and children, while knowing his propensity to use foul language in front of women and children?

Will I send my sons to the catholic school down the road, the headmaster of which is a particularly effeminate looking chappy?

For SalixIncendium to Judge me, he would first have to go through my past to discover what sort of Person I am, could his motives be sinister?

Do you care?
No.
Because you can't.

You can judge my comments, that's all you see from me.
Do I care when you judge my comments?
Yes.
It tells me if my ideas are relevant or correct or at least accepted.
"The person easiest to fool is yourself." - Richard Feynman
I don't want to be a fool. I need my ideas to be judged to know if they are any good. Please judge my ideas.

Do you care?

Why?

No, I don't particularly care, since it is up to me to evaluate/judge myself (accurately), and to do whatever is necessary to come to peace with myself. That can't happen with all others so why bother (not knowing one's full history and such), as long as one is comfortable with those who you value arriving at some kind of consensus, that is, coinciding with how one sees oneself. There have been times when this hasn't been so but I'm probably in a more stable state than at any other time so what others think matters not a lot. So there. :p

And as for any other judging, I don't have any particular talents so won't be expecting any prizes. :D

Oh, and I try not to judge others but almost impossible for some.

and you posted in this section ....instead of the religious debate section

feel safer here?

No.

First, it's not a religious topic.

Second, I merely asked a hypothetical question. I see no need for debate.

Can't judgments be based upon present knowledge of behaviors or character? Why would one have to go through your past to judge you?

Everyone constantly makes judgments, we're hard-wired for it - assessing for potential threats.

Of course we are. But are we hard-wired to accept the judgments of others? Should the judgments of others matter to us?

But are we hard-wired to accept the judgments of others?

I wouldn't think so. Such acceptance (or dismissal) is a conscious decision rather than innate; that decision being a combination of our perception of the other person and the "judgment" itself.

Should the judgments of others matter to us?

Given humans are social animals, as a generalisation, yes judgments of others do matter.
