Man to Man... or Woman

In your view, is it okay for a man to want to be a woman, and take measures to reach that goal, such as by taking drugs to change his facial and body features etc.?
I was not able to view this video, but the facial structure of the person in the video image just got me thinking on this.

I see no problem with any adult, consenting individual wanting to do whatever they want to their bodies.

I think there should be an age limit before someone engages in what you are describing however.

I would say 18-21 years old but even those ages seem to be underdeveloped for making such drastic and permanent changes to one's life.

No, never OK, because it involves premedidated gender fraud. People should not be permitted to dishonestly misrepresent their biologically given gender to society at large. If they want to do it within the confines of their own homes, they should be permitted but only if they are prepared to be restricted to their own homes to prevent a fraud on society.

In essence you are basically asking if it's okay for transgender people to pass through sex reassignment surgery and that my answer is yes. It's actually a brilliant treatment for people who suffer of gender dysphoria.

Can you please explain the term "gender fraud"? Is there a law by that name (or nickname)? Never heard of such and it feels strange to me as women and men should be equal before the law.

I already did. Please read my post .... "misrepresentation of biological gender."

There was in the Old Testament but obviously not in today's modern atheist state where fraud is permissible.

What's that got to do with it? And as I don't agree with your religion, I don't agree with your norms.

It's not exactly a misrepresentation since, in the case of reconstructive surgeries and hormone treatments, it's a permanent change. It's not like it's an artifice or an illusion. The face you see is the one you have. A biological man who passed through all the steps of a sex reassignment surgeries no longer express any of the phenotype of a biological man and that's permanent. While theoretically speaking a biological man who passed through such a process could then make the inverse process, but he would not return to the exact same place as he was before. That's completely impossible.

It's up to the person, not other people.

That's purely a subjective matter and clearly not true if the phenotype includes such things as menstruation etc. I would say that in nearly all cases sex reassignment surgery does not render even the visible phenotype exclusively of the opposite sex. Yet this is all part of the fraud, isn't it? You can't argue that if fraud is so successful it is undetecable it is not longer fraud.

If that were the case, then what is wrong with a ponzi scheme, since most of them are undetectable?

Fraud is fraud. It is simply not possible for a man to become a biological woman and vice versa. You say it's a fraud we can accept, or you say otherwise. That God (the Old testament) has spoken on the point is not in any doubt.

This is a very sensitive issue, especially now when gender issues are out in the open and freely discussed. We can understand the painful dilemma of those trapped in the body of the opposite gender that, in their head means that they are offended by their own body. Their biological gender feels all wrong.

In a world saturated with chemicals that can act as endocrine disruptors we can understand how these might affects hormones and cause all manner of problems. It is good to consider what might be at the base of this increasingly common problem.

I thought this article was informative....

Where does the OT speak about gender re-assignment surgery?
By "point" I meant the point I made about mispresentation of gender. As the law in Deut 22:5 is spiritual it is extendable to every conceivable misrepresentation of gender including "gender re-assignment surgery" (a misrepresentation in itself). In any case Deut 22:5 would in every case of "transgenderism" have to be literally broken on numerous occasions before surgery was ever contemplated. Deut 22:5 inhibits the thin end of the wedge here.

I have no opinion on this :) it's up to each person to decide what they feel is right for them.

Can I ask if you are against plastic surgery when someone has been in a car crash?

If a person already identifies as the other sex then as far as that person is concerned he or she is not wearing opposite sex clothing. What would feel like opposite sex clothing would be the clothing he or she is being forced into.
