'I thought this was a hoax': Patient in their 30s dies after attending 'COVID party'
I'm not so concerned with people who die by their own hand
First of all I think it's sad that he died... but also I can't help to wonder how insanely naive some people are when it comes to these conspiracies as I assume it most likely relate to. Do people honestly think that the all of the worlds leaders and science community decide to play a prank on the rest of us? And spend billions of dollars doing it, not alone the loss in popularity by these officials. Think about the amount of people that must be involved in it, all the people testing for the virus and not a single one with credentials go out and say that it's just a lie?
To me reading stuff like this, and the stories with people not caring and others believing that the are protected by God, so they still go to church and so forth... It's off the chart on the scale of stupidity.
It's completely mind blowing the amount of stupidity in the world.
I would be surprised to be honest... The whole world is talking nonstop about this virus and still that is not enough for people to realize that it is real?On the plus side, I think it's highly likely that this story will
result in some changes in attitudes, & saving of other lives.
But when a a fellow conspiracy theorist dies of the hoax,I would be surprised to be honest... The whole world is talking nonstop about this virus and still that is not enough for people to realize that it is real?
I bet you that there are people out there, that think the story is either just made up to scare people or that think the patient was murdered to further enhance the conspiracy.
But when a a fellow conspiracy theorist dies of the hoax,
this will resonate with their fellows.

I think most will realize the virus is real enough and it is dangerous to certain people who happened to be vulnerable. But when a a fellow conspiracy theorist dies of the hoax,

That's a classic example of the problem. Because it's a tiny step away from "I don't care if I get it and I'll carry on as usual if I do. If someone else is worried, it's their problem. And I don't believe in medical science and all the positive treatment news is just fake"I think most will realize the virus is real enough and it is dangerous to certain people who happened to be vulnerable.
The thing is, it's obviously not dangerous to most people. Just the moderate few that are affected and don't respond well. Most people will get through it just fine.
People react differently to the unknown and uncertainty as to whether the virus will affect them. Someone who ends up acting like it's the bubonic plague of the middle ages, while others will just realize it's an aspect of nature in face of something that is going to be around a long long time if not permanently and accept things like mortality and risk in face of something that has no cure.
Things becoming personal can shake things up. And, indeed, in some places increases in mask and distance compliance has been attributed to more people now knowing someone who has or has had it. Sure, some will double down, that is psychology. But so is it that things becomimg personal can shake up worldviews. No, it won't. Not with all of them. I have been on a debunking site and the stupidity and emotional investment some people make in a conspiracy makes them immune to facts. Study the psychology of conspiracies and you will learn that.

I never said that it would be a solution for all.No, it won't. Not with all of them.

Those are indeed all things.Take 2: Emotional investment in being right, personality, intelligence and the Dunning-Kruger effect are some of the factors.
The people I know who find the plague to be either a hoax or overblownI think most will realize the virus is real enough and it is dangerous to certain people who happened to be vulnerable.

Nonetheless, I've been using that article to influence others.
It's worth trying.
Perhaps I just have more optimism & lower expectations than doth thou?
As a design engineer, I strived to make things foolproof & damn foolYeah, I know. I am somewhat "jadded" because I just to be a profesional soldier and have learned to see problems in any plan. It biases me to be negative. Further my farther worked with work place security and he always influenced me with examples of stupid.
No cure as of yet. No one has said there will never be a cure. And already we're getting better at treating it. Rushing out as if viral russian roulette woth covid as the new permanent norm has no basis in evidence. By the end of the year we'll probably even have a bettwr understanding of the serious, total body wrecking illness this can cause.I think most will realize the virus is real enough and it is dangerous to certain people who happened to be vulnerable.
