My sister got saved last night @Saint Frankenstein

I'm being serious. I think my sister (and her boyfriend) joined a cult and going through mental issues trying to save "the world." Rewriting the bible by looking at numbers and switching them up and whole bunch of other things. Her boyfriend has a severe mental health condition and they both got arrested in relation to that and the religion-thing. Think of mental illness, being saved, and the stress of homelessness etc all wrapped. I honestly don't know what to think of the situation. She told her boyfriend not to take his medication; and, he hadn't taken it for a whole year or so. His mother kicked them off the property for not paying rent (and among other things). So....

That does sound very cultish. Is their group telling him to get rid of his medication? Cults prey on the emotionally and mentally weak in society so it wouldn't be surprised that he was targeted. If they are getting arrested because of the religion then that could be a sign that the religion is dangerous. You should get them out before they become too indoctrinated.

I think they are too indoctrinated now. They were living with his mother and weren't paying rent. She didn't want to find a job and kept telling her boyfriend what to do, when, why, and how. They came to my mother's house and kept whispering in each other's ears as if they had some sort of a secret. I couldn't imagine it even if I tried. I knew there was something off about her becoming christian and couldn't put my finger on it. I think my sister influenced him. He was probably alright with his meds etc beforehand. The mother nearly choked my sister for some reason. They both got arrested when they were "making a statement" while naked in the mother's front yard. Now she may get charged if the court tells the boyfriend to stay on his meds and she gets him off thinking that's the will of (I guess god?) or some have you. She never told me what the click was called.

That sounds like a very dangerous situation, especially if the group might have a stance against psychology or modern medicine.

There are few things more difficult than watching a loved one destroy themselves, and its easy to make the mistake of getting angry with them. In fact they, despite appearances, think that they are doing what they either have to or that they can't do anything else or its the best thing.

Make sure to keep your own mental health in good shape, because its going to be difficult to show them the love that they need. What's you can't convey in words you can convey with care. There are a lot of things you cannot do, so concentrate on what you can do. If they are homeless then there are different ways of surviving, different techniques, places to be safe, good and bad situations. Small things can help...like gloves in winter or a locker to put thing in or a car with a trunk that locks etc. If they are willing to keep up their appearance then membership at some place with a shower might be good -- such as a gym or YMCA. Its way better than washing up in a sink and sneaking into public restrooms or washing in a stream. Public transportation is very good if its available...such as a bus pass.
