Here are some of the segments of Trumps speech of July 3 2020. Thought the whole speech would be too long so extracted some of the more interesting segments. I would like to hear from both liberals and conservatives on the content of this speech.

“No nation has done more to advance the human condition than the United States of America and no people have done more to promote human progress than the citizens of our great nation …

They enshrined a divine truth that changed the world forever when they said, “All men are created equal.” These immortal words set in motion the unstoppable march of freedom. Our founders boldly declared that we are all endowed with the same divine rights, given us by our Creator in Heaven, and that which God has given us, we will allow no one ever to take away ever….

Angry mobs are tearing down our monuments deface our most sacred memorials, … some of these people think the American people are weak, soft and submissive strong, but know the American people are proud …

Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values, and indoctrinate our children. Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, deface our most sacred memorials, and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities. Many of these people have no idea why they’re doing this, but some know what they are doing. They think the American people are weak and soft and submissive, but no, the American people are strong and proud and they will not allow our country and all of its values, history, and culture to be taken from them.

One of their political weapons is cancel culture, driving people from their jobs, shaming dissenters, and demanding total submission from anyone who disagrees. This is the very definition of totalitarianism, and it is completely alien to our culture and to our values and it has absolutely no place in the United States of America. …

This attack on our liberty, our magnificent liberty must be stopped and it will be stopped very quickly. We will expose this dangerous movement, protect our nation’s children from this radical assault, and preserve our beloved American way of life. In our schools, our newsrooms, even our corporate boardrooms, there is a new far-left fascism that demands absolute allegiance. If you do not speak its language, perform its rituals, recite its mantras, and follow its commandments, then you will be censored, banished, blacklisted, persecuted, and punished. …

Make no mistake. This left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American Revolution. In so doing they would destroy the very civilization that rescued billions from poverty, disease, violence, and hunger, and that lifted humanity to new heights of achievement, discovery, and progress. To make this possible, they are determined to tear down every statue, symbol, and memory of our national heritage. …

They will never forget the destruction of statues and monuments to George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, abolitionists and many others. …

The violent mayhem we have seen in the streets and cities that are run by liberal Democrats in every case is the predictable result of years of extreme indoctrination and bias in education, journalism, and other cultural institutions. Against every law of society and nature, our children are taught in school to hate their own country and to believe that the men and women who built it were not heroes but that were villains. The radical view of American history is a web of lies, all perspective is removed, every virtue is obscured, every motive is twisted, every fact is distorted and every flaw is magnified until the history is purged and the record is disfigured beyond all recognition. This movement is openly attacking the legacies of every person on Mount Rushmore. They defiled the memory of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt. Today we will set history and history’s record straight. …

We will never let them rip America’s heroes from our monuments or from our hearts. By tearing down Washington and Jefferson, these radicals would tear down the very heritage for which men gave their lives to win the Civil War, they would erase the memory that inspired those soldiers to go to their deaths, singing these words of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, “As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, while God is marching on.” They would tear down the principles that propelled the abolition of slavery and ultimately around the world ending an evil institution that had plagued humanity for thousands and thousands of years. Our opponents would tear apart the very documents that Martin Luther King used to express his dream and the ideas that were the foundation of the righteous movement for Civil Rights. They would tear down the beliefs, culture and identity, that have made America the most vibrant and tolerant society in the history of the earth. “

Using a major national holiday supposed to embody unity and values of equality and freedom as a springboard to demonize his political opponents and attempt to shame a subset of his country's own population (Democrats and the left)--while ironically defending racist monuments in the process.

Yet another shameless display of incompetent leadership, divisive rhetoric, and self-aggrandizing spiel by a morally bankrupt demagogue and borderline cult of personality.

Sounds Hitler-esque. I know that’s probably a Godwin. But the whole appeal to “values” being under threat and torn down by “radicals” has that vibe to it.

Also how would removing statues remove the past?

One thing I've noticed about dumpster fire's rhetoric is that the things uttered from their mouth are exercises in projection. In an attempt to evade responsibility, they try to paint others around them with the color of their own cloth. That's not to say that sometimes that assessment isn't fair - I find the removal of monuments questionable at best even as I recognize it as inevitable - but when a head of state uses war-like rhetoric against its own people?

Frankly, dumpster fire is on my ignorelist for a reason.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was just removing the statues via civilized means.

Instead we are subjected to rampant vandalization and defacing of memorials/monuments that were there long before they were born.

I suppose in saying that, the left would also think I'm a racist now.

Activists have tried over the years to get authorities to take down racist monuments and Confederate flags. The authorities kept dismissing the calls and stubbornly, bureaucratically clung to brittle narratives and justifications to keep the racist symbols in place.

So now the people are doing the work themselves and the vacillating suits are expectedly decrying it inside their ivory towers. Too bad, though. It may well keep going until every last racist statue is down.

Those words were never written by Trump.
That has none of his style, repetitions or restricted vocabulary.
He clearly had it written for him to match his agenda.
He is trying to appeal to the most reactionary and backward looking segment of society.
And belittling those trying to move America toward equality of race and a society that is fair to all. At the same time attacking those attempting to correct the facts of history in relation to slave owners and oppressors.

I wouldn't. "The left" isn't some sort of hivemind any more than "the center" or "the right" is.

Defacing monuments and engaging in vandalism is practically an international human pass time. Humans worldwide have disrespected monuments throughout history, usually erasing those who were on the wrong side of history. Cultural erasure is an extremely powerful tool. If you control the story, you control a country.

How does one peacefully demolish a statue? If the government isn’t doing anything to remove them, action is the next step, far as I can see. But then I suppose I hold no particular attachment to even our war time memorial statues. Don’t get me wrong here, I respect them as monuments of the past. But if someone defaced them or tore them down I wouldn’t loose sleep over it. I mean we have museums anyway, so who cares? Everything is vandalised anyway. The poor janitors of the world can attest to that

"All men are created equal" is the basic premise of American society but we have never, ever lived up to that standard.

The founders didn't think that slaves were equal. For the purpose of the Census, slaves were counted as three-fifths of a human being.

The founders didn't think that women were equal. Women had to fight for the right to vote and for every other right they now enjoy.

The founders were white, male, Anglo-Saxon Protestant land owners. Their government worked best for white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant land owners.

Our founders were good men. They did their best. But let's not pretend that they gave us the moral leadership that could stand the test of time.

In World War 2, black Americans fought and many died fighting Axis oppression. They were treated well by our allies in Europe and then those who came home alive had to face the same hateful discrimination they left behind before the war. For some white Americans, the need to hate and feel superior to others is strong enough to outweigh all other factors.

Did you cry when Saddam's statues were toppled? He has historical significance after all.

The French also had it well (and both countries do basically owe eachother gratitude for their own Revolutions), but they aren't Anglo-Saxon (mostly Franks and Gauls, with some Normans and Bretons if I recall correctly).
Even today, for white Americans it tends to be customs/culture amd accents. Such as Northern or "refined" accents may be looked upon with suspicion in the South, and outside of the South *America does have a tendency to view Southern accents as making people backwoods and uneducated. And America does tend to think soeaking with an English accent** makes one intelligent and credible whem speaking.

*just added to clarify that is not South America
**That is, basically broadcast BBC English accent.

On this topic, it truly deserves it's own many-volumed research dissertation. Anything less doesn't do it justice and overlooks many things. But the Founding Fathers were certainly not of equal moral character. Thomas Paine was was a great mind and leader for anyone generally secular or non-theist and alone in a world with blasphemy laws, Benjamin Franklin certainly had many positive traits and features. James Madison was known to be a temperamental hothead. The Southern delegates did throw a fit and refuse to ratify unless slavery was preserved.

Chauvinism. Fascistic rhetoric. Victimization.

The "sacred American values" Trump purports to defend are exactly the opposite of those supported by the people represented by the statues. They are more representative of the "left wing radicals" he condemns.

It is a terrible irony that Trump spoke of sacred monuments at a memorial on sacred land to the Sioux which was promised to them then taken away. Even more ironic was that the sculptor Gutzon Borglum was associated with the Ku Klux Klan and a racist.

Trump used every American symbolic image to demonize the the Democrats and liberals as if all of them are trying to destroy the country and all of its morals. This type of rhetoric is classic of many dictators who want to entirely eliminate the opposition through fear and hate. The scary thing to see is the response by his supporters as they chant USA over and over. This type of reaction has been seen in the past with dictators creating the fear of the other and making them seem less than human. He called the left fascists trying to divert the reality that he is the one that acts like fascist .

Did he actually say this?
For a Trump speech, it reads uncharacteristically coherent, and uses a disproportionate amount of polysyllabic words.
