Instruments to love or hate?

Perhaps the vuvuzela tops the list (as indicated in the link below) but the Scottish bagpipes might be nearer the top for many, with the Irish (or Uilleann) pipes and others (Northumbrian pipes) being similar, even though the music produced by them varies considerably. Another instrument, the hurdy-gurdy, might be an acquired taste also, although this is rarely heard other than in bands like Blowzabella that tend to feature it frequently.

I can't say that I hate any instrument, even if some can produce obnoxious sounds. They all have a place. Even the jaw harp.

I like the sound of most instruments, but there are a couple that make me cring. The recorder as attempted to be payed by many a school child but by far the worst is a badly played violin.

But a well played violin is awesome

The group Ad Vielle Que Pourra does not exist any longer but they used that instrument.

This group I love. Its Celtic folk music mixed with metal, and is complete with a flute, violin, bagpipes and hurdy-gurdy. And the arent all hard and heavy headbanger songs (the second one is a folk medley)

Same here, and it's perhaps obvious from the musical content I post that I love the Irish pipes and the hurdy-gurdy, and even the Scottish bagpipes, but usually the music of such is less to my taste. I can imagine a Gamelan orchestra not being that pleasant to Western ears but we tend to have the instruments that have evolved in our own particular culture.
