Because it is written in The Holy Bible that he ascended up to Heaven and will someday return, down to Earth

When referring to God it is always God the Father, who is never God the Son. So yes, God is a living God.

this is what god has shown me…it all started in church when everybody stood up and began to sing hymns i was just standing there looking at everyone singing than i saw something moving around in the church at first i thought it was people coming in late but as i looked i saw a figure moving at a very high rate of speed .at first it was a blur and as i watched i could see it was a spirit moving about and he was laying hands on everybody in the church than I saw the heavens open up and the church of god come down and than i saw the lords spirits pour out and fill the church and they immediately went about laying hands on everyone as i stood there in church looking at all these miracles and wonders i saw a cloud of lightening coming down from heaven it landed about 10 feet away from me so i could see it clearly after a while a figure came forth and i stood before him and as i watched he came forth again and i could see what he was wearing and i have much more to tell you
I wonder if spirits hibernate. Surely a loving God would not allow people to suffer from cancer until dead? Maybe God was not able to stop his son from dying on the cross? God created the universe in 6,000 years, according to theists. According to scientists, it took about 13.4 billion years for the big bang to expand the metric of the primordial plasma ball. Thus, 2,000,000 years for us is one year for God. Maybe that different time scale (arguably caused by Relativity) accounts for God not paying attention to the suffering on earth? When I read the bible, I pay attention to God's interactions in the modern world. To me, the bible isn't just a history book, it is a book about the living God and instructions how to live right (don't kill or go to war, don't have torture camps like Guantanamo). But, God doesn't seem to answer prayers.
