That was a dumb thing for him to do. He should have waited for the polls to close and then announce that he won - avoiding a tedious counting of ballots because he was going to win anyway.

But I guess he does not care about appearances.

I think he does. I think it's more that he wants to project 'strength and certainty' over process and democracy.

I don't know why the Russians, in large, feel the need to have an authoritative leader. I guess that's their national tradition. Or maybe they view themselves as one familial 'race' together, and Putin is like dad or grandpa.

I've read a few 'pop-psych' takes on it over the years, written by Russians. It wasn't super complimentary towards their national psyche, and seemed to suggest a level of inferiority to the First World which is eased by strong Nationalistic leaders.
I have zero idea if that is even vaguely accurate, have never been to Russia, and have never met a Russian I would describe as having an 'inferiority' anything...lol

Check out in Google: "infowar" or "informational wars".

I am very familiar with what is called 'info wars,' and it has been around since humans could first write.

The accusation of 'fake news,' is a bogus smoke screen of misinformation in and of itself.

If some on calls something 'fake news' please document and provide specific evidence that it is indeed 'fake news.'

Can a very good person, e.g. Mother Theresa, have an agenda to do good? Can good-doing be called by bad word "agenda"? Does God have an agenda?

We are not talking about Mother Teresa, which has nothing to do with the accusation of 'fake news,' unless you are comparing Donald Trump with Mother Teresa?. .

Remember Donald Trump called the COVID-19 pandemic 'fake news.'.

Russia says: US is doing wrong.
US says: Russia is doing wrong.

Is there a way to decide the case?

This sounds like silly simply taking sides like children in a sandbox, and has nothing to do with what is true nor false news..

There are many things that simply being informed and studying different sources in news and history to make informed judgements.

Easy ones to make judgments on claims of facts like, Trump stated, "This is like the seasonal flu."
