We’re Making Exciting Progress In Developing Covid-19 Drugs

This is a real, hopeful possibility. I'm not counting hatched chickens but I do like the way the eggs look. The approach, using the work on SARS and MERS to get a leg up on COVID-19 makes utter sense and the early pre-clinical trial steps looks very promising. Of course, we'll see but I'd rather be hopeful while being patient.

We’re Making Exciting Progress In Developing Covid-19 Drugs

The SARS-CoV-2 protease closely resembles that of both the SARS and MERS enzymes, giving the drug developer a great guide. Using this information, the researchers designed two chemicals, designated 11a and 11b, they thought should do the job.
...
The good news is that regardless of the fate of 11a, this research group and many others are hot on the trail of a variety of drugs that will inhibit proteins needed for viral replication. I predict with confidence that by this time next year, cocktails of anti-viral drugs will be approved for use that effectively treat SARS-CoV-2 infections.

I also predict that thereafter, long-acting anti-viral drug formulations will be developed to prevent infection. Such drugs would function as short-acting vaccines to protect our healthcare workers and household members who test SARS-CoV-2 positive.

Lastly, I am confident that also by this time next year, an entirely different approach—use of anti-SARS-CoV-2 monoclonal antibodies—will be effective in tracing and preventing SARS-CoV-2 infections. In any case, help is on the way!

it's cheaper to take vitamins

you can do that ….now
Vitamins wont help you, and except for a few that sea of vitamins at the store doesnt really actually do anything for you (unless suggested otherwise by your doctor).

Actually vitamins can help you by helping keeping bodily functions strong and your immune system viable.

That would be weird to come up with a virus off the bat, but then still need to treat other respiratory viruses without, in part, being able to cure them so people can live a longer life if that familiar virus were deadly. I mean, if all of this helps 100 percent we should have been doing this for worse diseases long time ago. It just takes time-years even.

It's a well known fact that vitamin D helps immune function. Of course we don't hear much about it because the medical system doesn't profit much off of the sale of vitamins. But it is a well-known fact that nearly all doctors do agree upon.

Cheaper than what?

Vitamins, herbals, probiotics, et al are a huge ripoff generating over seven billion dollars annually for an industry that can do and claim whatever it wants.

After making claims like:
  • Helps maintain healthy digestion and intestinal health**
  • Supports healthy immune function**

The fine print will always say: "** These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease."

In other words, they do nothing beneficial.

I do not trust the FDA

they allow azodicarbonamide in flour
for making bread

it is otherwise used to make plastic flow better when making plastic products

if you leave your bread in a zip lock bag......for a year
it will not mold
mold will not eat bread treated as such
the bread will harden.....as if turned to plastic
(yeah.....I did the experiment)

the FDA uses a so called …..GRAS policy
Generally Regarded As Safe

who do YOU trust?

That statement is illogical. If you dont hear much if the benefits of vitamin D, then you can't know nearl all doctors agree on it.
Vitamin D offers no known extra resistance or immunity to covid.

Show me where an expert has said taking vitamins eases the risk of covid? Sure, it helps with the immune system, but it gives no extra benefits for covid as is implied. Taking them wont keep you safe or make you extra safe.

You're making assertions without evidence. There is evidence that vitamin D reduces the risks of COVID, or at the very least, that vitamin D deficiency raises risk of getting COVID.

A defiency increasing the likelihood does not mean an adequate or surplus amount will give you extra resistance. And definitely dont take too many, because too many is a very bad thing.
