Not quite sure what recovered means. If 5.6 million have recovered out of a total of 10.4 million world wide does that mean the difference (minus death of course) are hospitalized or what?

Still in recovery - so could be either statistic until recovered (or dead)?

I guess it means the rest are still considered to be sick.

There's a lot of vagueness in regards to the terms and statistics being used in reference to the pandemic and aspects thereof.

For that matter, there doesn't seem to be any definite agreement about what qualifies someone as "recovered".

I don't find "recovered" to be meaningful because of that vagueness.

On the Minnesota DHS site, they list people no longer in isolation. I wonder if this is what is meant by recovered?
Further down the page they show this:

CLOSED CASES
6,651,561
Cases which had an outcome:
6,128,424 (92%)
Recovered / Discharged

523,137 (8%)
Deaths
