We no longer tolerate obvious racism. May the day come soon when whispered racism using code words also be tossed in the garbage heap of history.

The Democrats might have had a chance to beat Mr. King in November and thus help flip the Senate blue. Now that will be much tougher, if not impossible, to do. I think the prospect of a Democratic senator, and not his racism, might have been the major reason Mr King's own party leaders came out against him in the primaries.

Maybe. I had thought about that.

But although King might have lost to a Democrat, he also might have won.

Regardless of the Republicans motivation, I am happy to see King gone.
