Thank God, there are some sane people in our military:

Pentagon officials express concern as Trump threatens to use military to 'dominate' protestors - CNNPolitics

Trump is threatening to use the Insurrection Act as US cities across the country struggle to deal with protests and, at times, looting and rioting that began last week after the killing of George Floyd, a black man who was being taken into custody by police in Minneapolis. The President, who faces a climbing death toll from the coronavirus pandemic and uncertain reelection prospects in November, is now emphasizing law, order and a military response against American citizens.

"I believe that we in America should not get used to or accept uniformed service members of any variety having to be put in a position where they are having to secure people inside the United States of America," Army Maj. Gen. Thomas Carden, the Adjutant General of the Georgia National Guard, told reporters Sunday. He added that although "while we are glad to do it and honored to do it, this is a sign of the times that we need to do better as a country."

But some Pentagon officials are deeply wary, several defense officials tell CNN. They have tried to respond by making a strong case that the situation does not yet call for deploying active duty troops unless state governors make a clear argument such forces are needed.
"There is an intense desire for local law enforcement to be in charge," a defense official said, alluding to the laws that forbid the military from performing law enforcement roles inside the United States.

Trump will no doubt replace them and send hordes of heavily armed soldiers to murder innocent protesters. His evil is boundless.

It's possible the military might handle things better.
Could be worse too.
But I'd prefer continuing letting cops handle it because
I think (hope) their actions will be edifying. We'll see
what went well, & what went poorly. This will inform
future training & changes.

We don't need multiple Kent States erupting all over the country. Or maybe we do if that will result in real reforms and changes in the laws that allow a president to do use the military against Americans.

In think the bigger question is whether we will be able to keep our democracy with Trump in charge, and I think it's a huge mistake to think we have no worries about that? Remember whom he praises and why.

Yes. The Trump presidency has thrown into sharp relief how flimsy the separation of powers becomes, if you have a president with no scruples at all.

Another 4 years of this and you really could have either civil war or the end of a functioning democracy.

But I now get the feeling he will lose badly in November.

Will people react with an armed response if the Donald does this?
I mean tensions have already exploded, Americans seem almost poised for their military to attack them at all times.

I think before that happens Trump will get some serious pushback from the military. The generals are not about to start having their men shoot their own citizens. He may be crazy but they aren't - and they have a code of honour.

My uncle served in your armed forces. He’s retired and doesn’t talk about his career, so I’m not sure of the details (I think he was in the Air Force.)
He is a very peaceful man. So I mean you’re right. I just hope things don’t keep escalating for my American brethren’s sake.

When you graduate from paper training, we'll talk.
Humans have a long way to go to equal dogs in communication.

A dog holds his head just so, wags his tail in a special way and sinks down every so slightly.

Human translation: Hi. How are you doing? Are you feeling OK? Do you have some time to spend with me? Shall we play a game? How about tug-of-war if that's ok with you?

This proves canine communication skills are ever so superior.
