Popularity. Nobody should become president who is not popular. Presidents are supposed to be famous before they get into the race. Great people like authors, inventors, etc.

The most important attribute for a president is the natural ability to solve problems, both long tern and in real time. Popularity is too often created by the media; stars are made. The hand selected actors are chosen to play the role of president.
Trump is not considered presidential by the left,since he does not try to copy the style of any of the TV actors playing president. The actor can stop a war and feed all the poor, in a 60 minutes episode. This makes him popular and liked. This is staged and is not real.
Trump is very capable and good at problem solving, No other president has had to run the country and also constantly deal with thousands of people trying to undermine, leak, sabotage and try to take him out. He is still standing since he can solve these problems as they occur.
Biden would have been gone in a few weeks, if he had the same treatment. Biden would need a cooperative media to make him a star for TV. But not all the media and politicians would cooperate, since a president has foreign affairs to deal with, with those actors not always friendly. A problem solver is ready on all fronts and can mobilize quickly. This rapid response has made it difficult for the swamp.

Sorry, I may have misunderstood the OP. I stated the basic qualities I think a President should have. But do you mean more simply 'what does one need to become President'?
It would vary from country to country, but in the US access to funds would be number one.
I'm not sure how to respond to this. Which problems do you think most impactful in the US right now, and in what sense has he 'solved them'?

Well I would put the ability to solve problems as being the nearest to any definition of intelligence that one might want, and this president is not showing this so much, but often causing more problems - whether for now or for the future.

Since this is a joke thread , I'm reminded of a neat short SF story about someone who got to be king. Anyone who volunteered could be king. But when that person assumed office, devices were implanted in their bodies that reflected the suffering of the citizens.
So if there was a natural or man-made disaster or suffering, their leg for example might ache. If the whole populace was in pain, the person's entire body would be in agony.
The upside was all the trappings of royalty and unlimited power. Of course, use the power to cause pain and suffer the consequences.
And if the person tried to remove the devices, their whole body would be in agony.
