I think that some protests are useful, but that the most important thing to remember is that many of us have a strong moral compass, we want change and we want better, but critical thinking skills and other positive measures must also be applied. Just because something is right in some ways, doesn't mean it should be done.

For example, suppose you have a toxic boss that makes 40 employees under him all feel emotionally sick. That doesn't necessarily make it right to say, go up and hit him, even if he deserves karma.

Unfortunately, one's boss holds the power of unemployment over you. Kind of tough to get around if you need the job, living from paycheck to paycheck. Can't afford to get fired. I suspect only a few extraordinary folks out there managed to actually fix the problem.

Not to mention, getting the wrong kind of revenge against a boss could in some instances get whole crews fired, I know it's rare. But it could happen, even if the other people aren't responsible.

It is. Though in not every instance, does it work. It working usually means the company had fair policies, investigated, and kept confidentiality about the name of the reporter(s).

In smaller companies, the owner is less willing to admit they made a mistake in the administration they hired. In larger companies where as @KAT-KAT mentioned, if they have fairness policies implemented.

One's boss is often making themselves look good at the employee's expense. It's risky making your boss look bad. Where I've tried getting other employees to unite, they won't.

Most folks need their jobs and don't want to risk it so won't go against their immediate superior. Companies develop their own culture. Take a bit of guts to go against culture, doesn't always end well.

I'd suppose different police depts have problems with culture too. Derek Chauvin had been on the force 18 years with prior complaints. I'd imagine his coworkers knew what kind of person he was. If Floyd hadn't died, just at most another letter of reprimand. While you are 100% right, someone should have gone over his head, no one did.

Yep. I've been hearing on the news rare instances of stuff like that happening.
