In most countries the fight for racial equality is still far from complete. This is especially true of the USA.
Where it periodically bursts in to a fire fight.
On top of the present riots and protests. The American establishment is working hard to vilify the Chinese.
These incidents are seen by the authorities as a way to increase their popularity and gain support when things get difficult.
This is almost certainly more to do with internal politics, and Trumps take on the cause of America's dwindling dominance of world trade. and his insistence on blaming the Chinese authorities for His own inept handling of Ccvid19, and lack of success in fulfilling his election promises.
The virus is out there, it will continue to kill people in all countries. though some are doing a far better job of controlling its spread than others. China is one of the best at doing so amongst a vast population.
They gave sufficient warning when its nature became clear, for some countries to react very swiftly indeed to curb its progress. While the USA appears to have given up... and is now trying to put the blame on China for its own ineptitude and lack of preparedness.
The American Executive is making every effort it can, to take advantage of whatever it can, to salvage Trump's chances of reelection.
It is inflaming the racial unrest by increasing the violent use of military, militia and the police, then blaming Biden of for the support of those inflamed to riot. in the hope of turning white support against him.
They are doing much the same against China, in order to win over all those voters that lost jobs when their employers outsourced their jobs abroad. You can not blame those countries for taking up those offers of trade . China, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines and indeed Mexico and central America have all made good use of this, to increase the technical development of their own countries and educate their own workforce.
One can expect to see further examples of Xenophobic and racially motivated moves, both leading up to the election and after. The USA is on a downward path and its political leadership is determined to take others downward with it.
Unfortunately for Countries like the UK, they are following much the same path because they are afraid of upsetting the USA, and as yet, do not see that China is a much more stable trade partner.
China has responded to the unrest in its Hong Kong territories, by putting in place legislation to increase its ability to take direct direct control of the situation.While this was always possible in the long term under the agreement, set up at Independence from the UK. One can understand quite easily their frustration at seeing their most prosperous province doing its best to destroy itself. while watching from the sidelines.
It is certain that the USA would have stepped in, in force, if one of its states or dependencies was tearing itself apart. However the Chinese have done no more than legislate for that possibility.
The Chinese are certainly not Saints in the light of Western sensibilities. but it abides by its own rules and laws. which is no more and no less than that every country should be seen to do.
