More bad news, America

Here's something you don't want to hear, but as I watch the protests all over your nation right now -- I see something else, too, a little more insidious. Nobody is socially distancing. Nobody is taking precautions. COVID-19 is just about certainly going to flare up again as a direct consequence.

What?

No, I'm saying people in the Middle Ages voluntarily closed their villages so not to spread the plague and they died as a result.

Now they are wondering why they bothered, because we are selfish descendants who won't do what they did for us.
Oh, OK, I understand.

You want to paint Americans as 'insidious' just because they don't buy into the bubble life?

What do you think?

Bloody rubbish. I painted nobody as "insidious." But why on earth wouldn't anybody with an IQ larger than their neck size take a few very simple precautions to prevent untold numbers of people -- their fellow, their neighbours, their relatives -- from getting sick and dying in misery?

Do your guns have pearl handles, and are your holsters made of nicely tooled leather? I'm kind betting on it...

That is what you said in your opening post. Sorry to have understood you.

Please try to understand me. The OP in this thread was meant to point out a very real situation that is just about certain to lead to very real tragedy for a lot of people.

I am not actually in favour of people getting sick, suffering and dying unnecessarily, especially when it is preventable.

I also understand why the protests are going on -- I am outraged, too, as I've made very clear in other posts. But the whole situation is not very likely to get better by making a whole lot more people sick.

If you don't understand that, then I am sorry for you -- truly.

George Floyd protests spread nationwide: Live updates

It appears the White House is on lockdown.

White House on lockdown due DC protests

From CNN's Jason Hoffman

As protesters arrived at Pennsylvania Avenue/Lafayette Park, the White House has been locked down.

The doors to the White House briefing room, where reporters have their offices have also been locked and Secret Service officers are not letting anyone off White House grounds.

There were members of the press corps around the press entrance but they were just cleared out and have been brought back to the White House press briefing room.

CNN has reached out to the US Secret Service for comment.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

I would call that self-correcting measures.

Insidious implies a level of intelligence, and the bumpkins who can't handle basic preventative measures against disease are certainly lacking in that regard. Also, they certainly don't speak for all of America, only the unnoteworthy backwater sections.

It just goes to show how 400 years of this bull**** has been built up to the point that RAGE over injustice surpasses all other concerns, to the point of risk of life. That's what this is. Cleary.
