Your Username or Your Avatar

Which is more important to you? Your username or your avatar? If you had to make a choice to change just one, which one would you choose to change? Why?

For me, it would be my avatar*. I'm much more attached to my username due to its uniquity and personal meaning. While the English version might be common, one would be hard pressed to find another 'SalixIncendium' on teh interwebz (or anywhere else for that matter).

*I did try to change my avatar once. One of the moderators objected. So I changed it back. But that moderator gets to change theirs to whatever they want despite my objections, even if their avatar leaves me paralyzed with fear.:cry:

For practicalities sake, my username is more important because it is the way people recognize who I am.

But my personal preference would be to keep my profile pic because the username was created at a time when it appealed to me. I more likely to use my real name as a username.

For me it would be a hard choice, because both are uniquely me

Pretty attached to my username. Almost like a unique online identity that I use for much more than RF. My Avatar I change as the mood takes me.

Online I've always been ChristineM but have in the past changed my avatar quite often.

However since my current avatar means so much to me it would be difficult to change.

Answer, i don't think i will change either

I would not want to change my username, since I make a point of using the same one on all the internet forums and media I take part in. This is so that people who may come across me in more than one place can recognise who they are dealing with.

The avatar is just a bit of fun, with no fundamental significance.

What would you do if you wanted to participate in a forum but found the name exchemist already taken?

I'm sure I'll change my avatar at some point so that's probably the expendable one.
On another forum I changed my avatar to a picture of Trump. I was asked to change it as it may have caused offence. I changed it to a photo of the British chancellor and that was OK apparently. Go figure.

Interesting question.

It would be a difficult choice because both speak to my values. I would probably choose to keep the avatar.

I dislike playing favorites, as it tends to exclude others, but your username is one of my favorites on the forum. I find "Jayhawker" very cool and your username is quite similar to that of one of my favorite composers.

I imagine your avatar is Hebrew. Would you be willing to share the translation?

I am polymath257 in as many places as it is allowed. Fallback handles are polymath17 and polymath65537 (extra points for why those are special).

The avatar is expendable.
