Interview me about autism

Pronouns: he/him/they/them
I've realized I've asked a few questions on this forum to people who are non-autistic....Sometimes I'm curious about wanting to know what it's like being non-autistic.I thought perhaps some people on here might have questions for what it's like to be autistic. I've had people in the past ask me about it. So ask away your questions...just keep in mind I can't speak for all autistics and it'll be just my experience your getting. If you met one autistic, you've met one autistic.

I'm normal????Shoot. I hate that. No opportunity to be extraordinary.

You haven't seen extraordinary until you see @lewisnotmiller finally have it with my quality of posts so low, I wouldn't dare post it on my own forum, and:

But he does have very nice hair. The ladies go for that.

Wait...John Stamos? You're letting JOHN STAMOS play me?

I demand you rewrite the script with someone more appropriate. He'll never get the accent right.

His hair can stay, but the rest? Out!!

That was kinda my question, actually. How much commonality is there...or do you suspect there is...amongst autistics and their experiences with autism?

Do you talk to many autistic people?

I'm aware that autism can be due to variety of things including brain structural differences. Can autism sometimes (not always) be due to childhood anger/trauma/anxiety/fear?

Is it ever akin to a personality conflict?

Is there pain involved?

Very few but then again I speak to very few people anyway

The cause of autism is unknown but no I don't think so.I haven't read anything that suggests it.
Is it ever akin to a personality conflict?
not to me
Is there pain involved?Oh so many things I could say...Yes due to ableism. Yes due to hate. And during a meltdown or shutdown yes. Sensory experiences can be painful too sometimes

How are you in crowded spaces?
If you and another person enter a doorway at the same time, do you step back, step ahead aggressively, or wait for social cues from the other person.
Do you open doors for people?
Do you do any things repetitively?
Do you have a model train?

Thanks for doing this. Any insights to human behaviour are helpful. I will probably have more.

How are you in crowded spaces?loud noises can hurt my ears but if I'm prepared for it I do fine, sometimes have to wear headphones
If you and another person enter a doorway at the same time, do you step back, step ahead aggressively, or wait for social cues from the other person.step to the side
Do you open doors for people?yes then hold the door for everyone else so they get inside.
Do you do any things repetitively? All the time it's called stimming: Stimming

Thanks ... which particular stimming do you do? Or is there a variety? (I just learned a new word, thanks for that.)

Do you like to play with water?
Do people recognise your unique flavor, or can you go incognito?

I understand aspergers is at one end of the autistic spectrum?

When diagnosed, is it to the extent of being vaguely "positioned" on that spectrum?

I used to know a father whose son has aspergers. The father once said to me (not sure how much he was joking) that all men have aspergers. What do you make of that?

most of us autistics in the US at least fit the DSM-5:
Diagnostic Criteria | Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) | NCBDDD | CDC

Hmm...I'm not even sure how possible it is to answer this, but I meant more in terms of personal experience. How autism impacts on how you see the world.
It's most likely a ridiculous question, and I'm fine with you telling me so. But it's more about your personal thoughts and feelings.

I've worked with kids on the spectrum (although not extremely so) and am somewhat familiar with the more general, rule of thumb information.

Thanks ... which particular stimming do you do? Or is there a variety? (I just learned a new word, thanks for that.)I handflap, twirl, pace, rock, tongue click. Different moods I do different things in different ways. Some can be harmful. If I have a meltdown I might headbang(ouch) and my handflapping when happy is different than when anxious.
Do you like to play with water?sometimes
Do people recognise your unique flavor, or can you go incognito?depends on if I try to hide my autism

no longer in the dsm5. If diagnosed not in the US. Not exactly some are extremely disabled by aspergers.
