If you are a person of science.Do you have to turn your back on god?

Of course not. Otherwise someone's going to have to tell the Vatican to shut down the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Vatican Observatory. Churchmen and devout Christian's have a very long and storied tradition of being scientists. It was a Catholic priest that came up with the big bang theory and discovered the expansion of the universe, for example.
I am a person that believes in science and I don't turn my back on God.
There are a lot of scientists that believe in God or a god.
Its not compulsory
I know at least 2 people on this forum who have worked in the sciences and have faith in god.
Hard no. Many religious scientists.

My former college, Imperial College of Science, had many religious lecturers.
I know a few scientists personally that are religious and few that aren't so I guess its a no for me.

Of course not. Why would you have to do that?
On the flip side, though, I have run across a fair number of religious people who seem to think that a belief in God requires them to turn their backs on science.

it seems I have always believed in God
as far back as I can remember
as I grew up...
a government survey test went through the school where I attended
strict oversee.....timed event
my score in science came back as superior
I was thirteen
I've gotten a lot better since then
and so has my belief in God

You can learn a great deal about someone through their actions. The results are so much better than relying on the Beliefs of others. In reality, science is the study of God.
God has the sum of all knowledge. The more one discovers; the closer one is to God and the more one has in common with God.
Science is walking toward God and will Discover God before religion for several reasons. Science is open to all possibilities. Science does not claim to have all the answers, but continues to search for answers. Finally, science will correct the errors.
How does that compare to religion??

Absolutely not. God is the author of the Laws of Physics. However, science might alter some of the things I might think about how God does things. Certainly science has given me a much greater appreciation for what God has done.

At least to a magical god or at least when you do science.
Many scientists compartmentalize, they are scientists in the lab and believers in the evening.
Others and famous ones like Einstein have seen god as deos, the creator of the universe and the laws of physics who doesn't interfere with the world any more.
But as a scientist you have to believe that you can figure out how the world works, how the laws are and that you can learn it by repeatable experiments. Once you allow for magic, your certainty of your findings goes out the window.

Science continues to correct itself. I agree that is a good practice and I also realize that science is forever changing. I also am thankful that interpretation of scripture can also change without changing the wording.
I agree with biology in as much as it is empirical and verifiable.

No, you don't. You say you do, but you don't.
Common ancestry of species is a verifiable, demonstrable empirical genetic fact.
You reject this verifiable empirical fact, because it isn't compatible with your religious belief.
Let's not make this about evolution though. That's not the point.
The point is that you said that you as a religious believer take no issue with science. This is the point I object to. You DO take issue with science as a religious believer, because the particular science of evolutionary biology contradicts your religious beliefs.
I don't remember if you are a young earth creationist?
If you are, then there's also a whole bunch of physics, chemistry, geology etc that you have to reject in order to uphold those YEC beliefs. But I don't remember if you are a YEC.
But I remember correctly that you don't accept evolutionary biology, right?
And you reject it, because it doesn't fly with your religious beliefs, right?
So... to round-trip this back to the question in the OP:
No, science doesn't require you to turn your back on religion per say...
But, obviously, certain incarnations of religion most certainly require you to turn your back on at least parts of science.
