The Seine

Today someone reminded me of our walk by the River Seine.

I remember the River Seine and the bookstalls by its side. I remember the young lovers thronging the place. I remember the intellectual and yet airy ambience. Memories of 35 years back make me feel nostalgic. How the time has flown and suddenly I am not young. The year 1986 was magical. Jolly, light, confident. There was spring in the steps and smile in the face that passing young girls always returned.

This music from Andre Rieu's album Dreaming fits well.

What beautiful memories! Yours cheered me up. Thanks for sharing them!

However, I must confess that I misread the title of your thread. I thought it was "The Sane". For a moment, I thought you were advertising the name of a rival forum offering an atmosphere that RF does not provide.

"Be strong", I whispered to my coffee.

I was 26.

Veritably a perfect age for romance and travel! I was never in Paris, but I was almost the same age when I took a days-long canoe trip with a platonic friend down a river notable for its wildlife and scenery. It wasn't the river, though, that made the trip memorable. As you might expect, it was my friend and I falling in love and bonding on the trip.
