Courts allow Texas to curtail abortions during coronavirus shutdowns

A ban of some abortion procedures is defensible during the current pandemic, but I don't think that a blanket ban is necessary or wise.

Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott last month ordered hospitals to cancel “non-essential” surgeries in order to free up hospital space and supplies that might be needed for coronavirus patients and doctors.

This is the same state that deemed church services "essential"?

That seems reasonable, unless of course the life of the mother is in danger.Otherwise it is elective surgery - and those have been delayed just about everywhere.IMHO.
All Texas did was require women to travel for the abortion.

And to heap on the hypocrisy, they deemed church "essential". So while the good ole Christian folks are adding to the hospital load by getting together and spreading C19, pregnant women's preferences are deemed "elective".

Sorry, even this hard core Prolifer doesn't think that this is at all reasonable. What I see here is politicians pandering to their base regardless of the human toll.

No doubt politics were involved too!

Not that I said that or anything.

But go ahead and put words into my mouth if it makes you happy.

So that wasn’t the reason you brought up the non-closing of churches. Perhaps it was just a red herring and attempt to misdirect. Got it.

I was pointing out the hypocrisy of the Texan legislature. I was very clear about that.
They're pandering to their base by talking out of both sides of their mouths. Church is essential and the risks are necessary because of freedom and stuff. Abortion is too dangerous to risk, freedom be damned. We've got a health care crisis to take care of.

I really don't see what you're confused about.
