Coronavirus update: Md., Va. stay-at-home orders in place; DC order in effect April 1 | WTOP

https://www.governor.virginia.gov/m...tions-Due-To-Novel-Coronavirus-(COVID-19).pdf

The governor’s order goes into effect immediately and lasts until June 10, although the governor could cancel it earlier. Violation of the order is a Class I misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Northam has already limited the operations of nonessential business and banned large public gatherings. He said “most Virginians” are adhering to social distancing guidelines. “But it is clear more people need to hear this basic message: Stay home,” Northam said at a news conference Monday afternoon.

Regarding enforcement of the order, Northam said: “This is not a time when we are looking to put people in jail, but it is a time when I expect all Virginians to comply.” He said that police will enforce the order “if we see people gathered any place in Virginia, especially in parks and beaches.”

As part of the governor’s order, public campgrounds are being closed to short-term visitors and state beaches are closed except for personal exercise and fishing......

I'm trying to find the actual written order. This is our update.

I feel deep down something is off about this and I can't put my finger on it.

Nothing seems off about it to me. I'm not sure if that's the best set of restrictions or if they need to be stricter, but that's as far as I go in questioning.

I can see it being stricter if it were an air born virus to where locality and touching someone (needing to be around a person) wouldn't spread the disease. For example, I can't catch the virus because I'm not around people at all to put me at any risks of having it. However, I can see the laws being stricter if me and many other people who are already isolated can still catch this thing by breathing air or maybe it's transmitted in a more alternative way in addition to needing to be around humans.

Places like China etc, or NY even where there's a high density of people, I can see it. Since it's Virginia, it depends on the area to whom is at higher risk. We have mostly military here as well as the regular Joe Smoe so if someone is always around other people, then yeah, they are at higher risk.

But I'm thinking of the nature of the virus itself that's throwing me off that's puzzling me not result of it once a person gets it. I wish I knew more about the virus to get a better sense of "what's wrong" other than seeing numbers, stats, and headlines.

In other words, educate myself before I panic.

There's a lot of uncertainty. The virus has been found to persist several days on some surfaces but it's not known whether people can catch it from touching a surface.

Very tiny droplets are known to hang in the air of poorly ventilated stuffy rooms for a long, long time.

So there's a lot we don't know about the virus at this point.

At this point, I want a mask and gloves if possible when I got into a supermarket to buy food. And I'm minimizing my trips into such places. A doctor who has kept up with the news, advised us to change clothes and shower if we've been in a close-contact supermarket situation as well following the apparent best practices for nurses in hospitals.

I'm also getting a lot more gardening done than I would have otherwise so it's not all negative.

That made me curious. What would be off? There is a lot off with this whole Corona virus thing going on IMO, but I did not see it here specifically.

Although 5000 dollar fine + 90 days jail for this kind of thing, seems a bit crazy. 100 dollar fine would also convey the message IMO.

We gave our President the time to mess up with Corona Virus for so long (1 day telling no problem, next day the opposite etc.etc.). And now the same President giving others, making similar mistake, a big fine. I do not call that justice. He should not have messed up to begin with. And China allows wild animals to sell to eat. While they knew already the problem it might create, from a few years ago.

Luckily in Holland there is since a few month a big "vegetarian wave" going on. The Government is promoting vegetarian lifestyle. IF all had been vegetarian, we would not have had Corona to begin with (assuming Chinese version of the cause of Corona Virus outbreak, being wild animal market, is correct)

Humanity has to make up it's mind. Follow natural dharmic Laws. IMO, that is the only way to avoid this kind of calamities.

It's more to do with the virus itself to the panic rather than the results of the virus. I wish I were a doctor to know more about this virus compared to its peers. I don't think we quarantined for other coronaviruses and even AIDS we weren't. So, I wish I knew more. I was at the park the other day and a full family had a cook out BBQ, and all. Now it's against the law to do that even if they were around each other 24/7 without outside contact. Given the nature of the problem, the content is overriding the context. I'm just not hyper reactive. The more people are nervous about something, the more I step back and observe before stepping off the cliff with them. It's with anything, really. The greater the number, the less I'm prone to follow. (Generalizing here) Observer of human behavior, I suppose.

Thanks for sharing. Now, I understand what you meant. And it's a good observation.

Observer of human behavior is always good, you can learn a lot about yourself.

And that's what life is about, at least that is how I see it.

So, I wish I knew more.
IF that is really what you wish, then I can give you a simple tip. Just "ask the Universe to reveal to you some more". You might be surprised. The more in tune you are with the Universe, the more the Universe will reveal. That is just a "natural Law".

I don't know about the term law of the universe ;) but it's interesting in my life when you have an interesting experience and the first thought in your head is, "how can I use this to help me with who I am" without needing to think about it. Or. Maybe a short chuckle and thankfulness and keep going. Don't know. I wish I can write books about it and it be the billionth book on the shelf. Start my own library.
