I believe they are chasing down a couple of possibilities in order to either confirm or refute.
However, this is not one of your poll options.
Sounds like you will wait and see, while you don't see a reason to not believe. Thank you.
I should probably allow for choosing more than one response. What do you think?

I voted wait and see because that's what the article said:

Although we don't yet know which of the two hypotheses is correct, the researchers think that more evidence might tip the scales in favour of one or the other - but we'll have to wait for that research to be done.

There was no link to see what the actual study said, and the headline didn't match what was said in the article. Does the study conclude it may have been in the human population for "years"? Or just for some period of time (months, maybe?)
That's an interesting question.

With what?
With the origin or provenance of the virus. Science may or may not discover its complete history, but my "opinion" will have nothing to do with it. Nor will yours, or anybody else's. It's kind of like gravity -- my opinion about it won't change it.

This thread has nothing to do with your opinion, or anyone else's, about the origin or provenance of any virus.

Then I can only presume it's about Provolone cheese, or maybe ocean currents.

But oddly enough, the thread is titled "Your opinion," and opens with a link to an article on the provenance of the COVID virus. So you'll have to forgive me for assuming that's actually what it was about.

Sorry you completely misunderstand. I have no reason to not forgive anyone for that.

Well, perhaps you could be generous enough to tell this poor, addled person what this thread actually IS about, if it's not about what it says it is.
It is about what it says it is.
So of course, I can leave the "poor, addled person" that.
However, since it isn't clear as yet to the "poor, addled person"...
