Ban something while riding on a high horse lording over people that you know best and know everything, and then summarily bring it back when it's convenient.

Chairman Coumo, make up your damn mind already. I heard from too many little birdies swarming around the state that plastic bags have no benefit whatsoever.

Minimizing unnecessary plastic waste is a worthy goal, Comrade. But adjusting for a crisis means putting short term goals before long term goals, and one use items constitute a smaller vector for transmission. I fully expect, once the crisis is over, one use plastic waste restrictions will come back, as they should.

If people would just wash their **** hands, and wash or spray down their **** reusable bags, and not touch surfaces that can be easily contaminated, and not within moments touch their mouth, nose, eyes or other nearby areas...

Not only would it slow down covid19, but also colds, flu and other common illnesses.

Some stores up here have declined the use of my cloth bags even if I was doing the bagging myself. Yes I washed the bags.

Enough with your petty, pitiful partisan posturing.
Reducing plastic waste is the sensible and responsible thing to do, but so is postponing such measures amid a crisis.

As a child I was taught, both at home and in school, to wash my hands regularly and especially after using the bathroom. It is second nature to me.

I am not fond of the public convenience and use it out of necessity only. What has always surprised me is the number of users that march right out of a stall and out the exit without even looking at the sink.

One benefit that seems to be from this is that more people are washing their hands now. I wonder if it will be a trend that is sustained once this has subsided from a pandemic.

Hygiene and sanitation are two of the least ce!ebrated and most important advances to come out of science and have been huge contributors to our health and quality of life. Something so simple as washing hands can have a tremendous impact on managing disease.

Think of this this way.

Nobody asked for the ban in the first place. ;0)

Do you feel the same way about DDT and asbestos?
Don't be a partisan puppet. Think for yourself.
Oh i didn't know plastic bags have the same capability of affecting people's health in the same manner as DDT and asbestos. Well if it's that bad, I guess you could say I stand corrected.

Different mechanisms of harm, but all are examples of a similar principle.

Industry wants to save money by using the cheapest, simplest approach, even if harmful. It's always ready to use some special circumstance as an excuse to roll back regulations to save money.
