What the virus does

That suffocation is one of my moms biggest fears, along with her age and health is pretty much the only thing about this that really makes me worry, because even just the thought of her going through is painful.

I looked in vain, in this make-your-flesh-creep article, for any sense of balance or assessment of risk to any one individual. The chance of all these nasties happening is generally quite small, unless you are elderly or have some relevant pre-existing condition.

Yeah. I just read mid-page when it talks about the virus itself. I get the opposite effect. The more media and panic I see, the less I panic. Almost as if the bigger the group, the more it looks like "if one person jumps, everyone else has to too." I guess it has it's good and bad points.

I watched this from 20 mins on. Pretty scary stuff.

I now understand the process by which my cat died about two months ago, ARDS.
I am still reeling from having had to witness this.
God help anyone who goes through this. It IS as bad as he depicted it in the video.

He already had kidney failure and a bad heart so after watching this video I now know he did not stand a chance even if I had been able to get him to the emergency vet clinic sooner. I now know why my regular vet clinic did not even recommend trying to save him, but they could not stop me from trying.

Sorry, I did not mean to bring this up but I am still not recovered from the shock. I already have PTSD and this exacerbated it so now I had to go back to counseling. Every morning I wake up thinking about him. I just try to get busy so I won;t continue to think about it. :(

We were already vulnerable. Safety/control is an illusion.
? How am I supposed to reply? Everything even atomic matter appears to be illusory, but we live within that illusion and are part of it. I still have to eat food and sleep and do chores. It doesn't change how I live.

I think that safety usually amounts doing slightly more to protect yourself than what everyone else does. You don't control the hungry bear, but you can still try to run away.

With viruses its a little more difficult, because you can't live in isolation; but you have some control. First you study and know about the virus. Then you figure out how to run.
