Talking With God

I was wondering if anyone on RF feel they have been in some form of communication with God and how this takes place?

Not that I want to be judgemental, I probably will and I'd imagine you can expect a lot of judgemental replies.
Sorry,

I used to have conversations with God and believed I got replies. I 100% believed that God could and would communicate with anyone who'd actually listen.

I no longer believe this because of... reasons.

IDK, I don't think I would have been religious for as long as I was verification of God's existence. God was real because God had a real presence. I don't think I would have accepted the idea that God only communicated through "prophets". Requires too much trust and authoritarianism.

I assume people do accept this secondary source of information about God. I couldn't do it.

A little while ago I went into detail about this in the thread The God Dream

Also as a gift, offered the person and life of His son Abdul'baha as our perfect example as to how to live life by the Word Baha'u'llah offered from God.
And Abdul'Baha offered the person and life of his grandson Shoghi Effendi as the guide before the line petered out. Yeah, I know.

Having been convinced to have a "connection" with God, I can understand how anyone might be convinced of such a connection. There is a lot of current science behind how the unconscious mind operates not known in ancient times. Without this information, there is not a lot of reason to question a dream/vision an experience of having a connection to the all-mighty.

So I suspect these prophets were sincere in their beliefs as well but that doesn't mean they were right.
So you think it's a self-fooling trick of our unconscious mind. I thought of this option also regarding mediums channeling entities and information from regressive hypnosis. But I'm not sure.

If God (or Godhead) is the ground of existence than we all and everything has a connection to God. Communication is something different. It's giving/receiving a message and it's not only by speaking/hearing/writing.

I have never experienced a voice or a vision of God but I felt something. Maybe inspiration is the best word. Or signals from the conscious. The message is more subtle like "blowing in the wind".

I believe a great many think they hear from God when they don't. The Bible tells us to test every spirit. I believe you can't assume you are right or that the others are right. Usually if someone disagrees I leave it in God's hands to inform them if He wishes.

How can you tell when God speaks to people so well they can't say no?

Is there characteristics that's not negative and against scripture in a general sense that lets one know that it's not gods love but an evil spirit?

Oh yes, God communicates with me daily about even the most trivial matters such as how my Priest likes it. Just this tuesday, he informed me that he prefers a slight tickling before working the balls. He's not gay tho, cos that aint the way God likes it. Live long and prosper; well, I say long. About 78 years because there is no afterlife you sad little man!

I have conversations with God all the time, but most people would say that it is just the voice of my conscience.

I'll be praying and i.e. asking what more I can do, or how I can come closer to Hashem, and something will occur to me. Maybe it's something that I should be doing that I haven't been, or maybe it's something that I'm doing that I shouldn't be doing. And then a little "conversation" ensues. Usually I start making excuses. Then God (or my conscience) simply doesn't take the BS. With a ruthless kind of frankness, God cuts to the chase. And because he is God, he is, of course, right. I am without excuse.

But I can see where some would say, Oh that's not God, that's just your conscience.

So, take your pick. :)

God communicates to open individuals. Rarely, he speaks into someone's life to provide special knowledge, direct communication, miracles, etc. Be open.

My Master speaks to me:
1) In dreams, I see His form and hear His voice. And He has said, "If you see Me in your dream, it is only possible by My Will"
2) I hear a voice when in need, with my physical challenges; never I get info for others. Tells me how high/low my bloodsugar is; so I can check it
Mostly my Master gives me warnings if things are about to go wrong with health, or if I need to go to hospital, He tells me, and tells me which test to do. Those are always bingo (and I sometimes never heard of the tests he tells me to do). So, I do have proof enough, that those messages are real.

Sometimes the messages are not so clear, and when I asked Him, He told me " that if I do not follow my conscience, then the messages become less clear". So, if I mess up with my strict diet, I get messed up messages. I don't like that, so it's a good motivation to stick to my diet.

I do not know how or if this relates to God, because all people have their own thoughts/definitions about God.

I believe the Creator God of heaven and earth speaks primarily through His revealed Word to humanity in the biblical scriptures, which are living and powerful and able to communicate to anyone seeking information/answers or wisdom at any given moment. God may speak during prayer or in various ways, but His revealed words already given in the Bible will never be contradicted.

Before there was Bible there was nature - the first incarnated Word and 100% unfabricated... The Bible was subject to man's distortion, fallibility, artificiality...

That’s your view, thanks for expressing it, but the Bible claims to be the pure word of God who created heaven and earth, which includes all nature. My view is that God has the ability to preserve His word through history despite the human fallibility and attempted distortions and has done so.

Which verse are you referring to?

Thanks for your view too.

My view is, that God has the ability to preserve His word, but gave human the ability to distort it, BUT in His immense merci, God sends us, every now and then, a much needed update to take care of the infested viruses.

That’s a view I disagree with as I see Jesus Christ, and His incarnation as the ultimate and final needed revelation of God. Everything revealed in the biblical scriptures concerning His life, death, and resurrection as Savior of the world has remained the consistent good news message since He walked on earth and this information is all anyone needs to know God and receive eternal life.
You are entitled to your different perspective though, so thanks for sharing.

I already thought that (from your Avatar name " InChrist")

and this information is all anyone needs to know God and receive eternal life
I won't debate you on that. Never let Jesus go (but I know, you won't, because of your Avatar name "InChrist"...good name...good reminder)

You are entitled to your different perspective though, so thanks for sharing.
Thanks. You are welcome.
