Signs of Republicans retaking the House

“Republicans took a strong first step in the primary election toward grabbing back at least some of the seven California congressional districts that Democrats flipped in 2018.

With millions of late-arriving mail ballots still uncounted from Tuesday’s election, Republicans have so far combined for a majority of the votes in six of those seven districts. GOP candidates have solid leads in two of them.

The results show just how tough it’s going to be for Democrats to hang onto everything they won two years ago, when California victories helped them take back the House, said David McCuan, a political science professor at Sonoma State University.”

California GOP makes strong bid to flip back House seats it lost in 2018

There are indications the GOP may retake control of the House. If they do, and President Trump is re-elected, the Senate remains under GOP control and with a Conservative majority in the Supreme Court, there may be a major shift in U.S. political landscape.

Ordinarily I prefer a 'mixed' congress...or mixed something. That is, if the Executive Branch is of one party, then at least one branch of congress should be of the other. However, given what's been happening over the last three plus years, I can't help but think a solid GOP control of the whole thing would be a very good idea, at least for two years.

After all, if there is one thing that is certain, it is that if the Dems are in control of anything at all, NOTHING will get done. Absolutely nothing whatsoever...unless it is by Executive Order and that isn't the best way to do anything. No matter who the executive is....and until the Dems can rid themselves of their extreme left wing aspects, and represent the majority of the Democrats out there, I for one don't want them to have control of the Executive branch, the House and the Senate. That would be ....a really bad idea.

Overall trends do not favor Republicans and Congress, and fan clubs choosing their candidates is not the general election. Trump will probably win, but he doesn't have enough solidly in his favor to have an easily assured Congress.

That is a frightening thought.
