A return to humility and perspective. The pale blue dot 'remastered'.

NASA remasters Voyager 1's famous 'Pale Blue Dot' image, puts Earth in perspective

Just think all the world's troubles, all the religious divides, all the major crisis that pervades our universe.

Lies right there.

What I find stunning is that you can appreciate something like this (it is indeed wonderful) yet from the few posts of yours I have read, it seems that you support the neo-fascist in the White House. He would pave over every last acre of wilderness for a profit.

Separation of political and philosophical. ;0)

One is for short-term the other is for long-term.

I would argue that Creation is at the point where it is precisely the decisions we make now that are going to have the most significant long-term consequences. There is no upside to supporting him that I can see. I pray that I am wrong

I only put my opinions out there as it applies to one single lifetime.

The long-term reality is the universe itself of which is completely indifferent to our 'trials and tribulations'. None of it is really going to mean anyting overall given the vast course of time and the sheer unfathomably of living in a continuum.

Trump and anything else associated with politics and the numerous affairs and crisis of people here doesn't really even register outside our own experiences at any moment.

I tend to think of it along the lines of Shakespeare.

"All of life is a stage...."

My faith compels me to care about Creation now, in my lifetime, and to work to make it a better place for the next generation...

So I do not share your (seemingly) nihilistic view of the future.

No I'm not nihilistic. If it was truly that way, I wouldn't be here right now.

But my view is nihilistic in terms of the nature by which form rises and falls.

All you need to do is actually ring a bell.

One ring till it dies out forever and ring again until it dies out forever and ring again until it dies out forever and ring again until it dies out forever......

That's my complete philosophy and worldview in a ding.

I do not see how one can discuss a topic like this without reflecting on the tragic trajectory of so many ecological and social trends. Seeing how his policies reinforce the drivers of those trends, how can one not make the connection? Do you have any idea of the magnitude of his assault on environmental policies (the courts have blocked many of them so far thankfully)? Or towards the poor and most vulnerable?

I sympathize with you, believe me, but it's still remarkable how quickly and often his name alone can derail a thread.

It is a chilling and very interesting photo. We live on the surface of a tiny speck of of dust floating in infinity.

It shows clearly how really insignificant we are.
One can certainly appreciate the scope in view of how we precieve immensity on a personal level.
