Say Something Conciliatory to the “Other Side”

Whichever side of the political spectrum you are on, what are some things you will admit or concede to the other side?

What are some things we can ALL agree on? Could we all agree, for example, that polarization has gotten out of hand, and we need better ways of having political debates?

I would like to challenge all of us to really dig deep, and identify places where we agree, or are willing to acknowledge the other side has a good point even if we don’t fully agree.

I wish we could have more productive political debates. By that I mean, a debate where it is possible for one person to actually persuade another. Those are too rare these days. But they are the most enjoyable discussions.

I would say we both support Gun Control, but different level or variations of it.

I would say we both support free press and Separation of church and state within the first amendment

I would say were both against slavery

Will folks on the Left admit that Hillary Clinton was a very problematic candidate with a lot of baggage? I will. I get why people on the right opposed her - though in some cases, I don’t get the degree.

WWMRD?

You are going to have to do better than that, everyone knew she sucked but I will work with it.

Though the extremely partisan, racist, and sexist Hillary voters could not bring themselves to vote for Trump in 2016 because he was a man, white, and republican we can forgive them because growing and healing is part of life's journey and we understand they can make forward positive changes in their lives. 2016 Hillary voters will have a chance to redeem themselves in the eyes of the world by casting their vote for Donald John Trump in 2020.

I support the right to bear arms. I just happen to support tighter and stronger restrictions, regulations, requirements, etc. than most pro 2A people probably do.

I oppose censorship and detest the sanctimony of SJW/PC culture.

It used to be that republicans had values. Many of them were wrong values but at least they were principled. John McCain was such a despicable warmonger you had to respect non-the-less. But what is left of the GOP that has anything to do with principles or values?

If both sides can't agree that slavery is wrong, then the Civil War was in vain.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
Republicans take good care of their own wealth, and compound their wealth nicely. Through policy.

What I say to the "other side", which would be Republican/conservatives:

There really is no reason for you to oppose establishment Democrats like Pelosi, Schummer, Biden, or Clinton. They are on your side as well. Sure, when the TV cameras are pointed at them they pretend to resist Trump with an impeachment circus, finger wagging, sideways clap. But behind closed doors these same Democrats are passing nearly ALL of Trumps legislation and agendas. They gave him MORE military funding than he even asked for, fast tracked all his federal judges, gave him his boarder wall money, strengthened US spying power, passed USMCA, and more. These were not executive orders either. They were legislation that establishment Democrats voted FOR. So realistically, there is only one party. Because the Republicans and Democrats are controlled by the same corporate donors who will both work to keep their money flowing.

Well hell, that there is going to bring us together.

In the spirit of the OP I won't point out in detail what a dickweed statement this is.

Democrats have iron discipline in sticking together. On the other hand, Republicans stick together like a herd of cats.
