Student who intervened and confronted bully shot and killed.

let's put the blame directly to the shooter

it was his choice to carry the weapon and use it

decades ago....we had neighbors whose children would come to my house and play
the years passed

one of those boys grew up to be …...different
and that difference brought him to a place of business
where he robbed and then shot the guy behind the counter
just cause he could

he wasn't mine to raise
he moved away and became someone …..different

the difference?
hard to say

could there have been a pivotal moment?
with no one there to counsel
likely so

children are lost when we aren't looking
but hey
that pivotal moment could happen when you stand right beside them

after that.....the chain of events are set in motion

do you think you can sort through it?...…...

I think not
What on earth are you babbling about?

It doesn't change the fact that the common U.S. citizen was just as well armed as standing militaries around the globe at that time and in many cases they were probably better armed in the sense that rifled muzzleloaders are far more accurate and deadlier at longer ranges.
And this was at the time the 2a was written
And do you know many places banned publicly carrying firearms? And those that didn't, it was strongly advised against because it was generally taken as a sign of being a trouble maker. Those "Wild West?" Not so wild or gun crazy as popularily believed.
And what is your idea of well armed?

I'm well aware of the history, what does that have to do with the situation now?

again......local news....

someone was attacked by another using a hammer as weapon
the attacker was shot and killed by the victim
who was not suppose to have a firearm
a felon

if you were living in a bad neighborhood?
and life was risky at all times

would then risk illegal conceal and carry?
What does this have to do with the OP?

That more and more and more and more guns has consistently and constantly failed to fix the problem, which was no where nearly as bad when we had restrictions and regulations, and enforced them. You simply cannot, afterall, put out a house fire with more fire.

Like it or not, it's our American Constitutional Second Amendment legal right to have a well-armed citizenry.
No.You're forgetting the amendment's initial clause. It pertains to militias, not individuals. That's been the general and legal understanding till very recently.

People tend to be impulsive. Wouldn't an armed populace transform ordinary altercations into gunfights? Wouldn't interventions by a well-armed citizenry result in frequent friendly fire deaths and injuries, as people start blazing away at every perceived malefactor? Wouldn't suicides soar if quick and easy means saturate society?
Finally, consider history. Have firearms restrictions been tried in any other societies? What was the result?

Of course not.
You use gaso... no wait
Kero...
No, no that either...
Etho...nope, wrong again....
I do remember there was a liquid that actually puts out a fire.
Unless that fire is on a liquid.
Then it just spreads the fire.
Old Age sucks.

You are not still going on about the old west are you? Very minimal populations, etc.
We could do nationwide "stop and frisk" do you think that would work?

And none of this has anything to do with the facts of the o.p.
-a kid stole a gun and used it illegally
- authorities are saying they will prosecute the owner of the pistol for not securing it properly

The fact that more guns and cowboys with them wouldn't have prevented this or saved this kid's life. And, yes, I agree very much the owner should be prosecuted as his negligence allowed for his handgun, basically, to be stolen to be used to commit murder. But people will still cry about "if i secure it I can't get to it when I need it." Boo hoo. A[nother] kid is dead because we are very relaxed on laws and enforcing them, and negligent when it comes to safety instruction and enforcement.

You might want to read up on the laws currently on the books from the BATF site. Not sure what laws are relaxed in this case.
-The kid stole a gun which is illegal
-The kid committed murder which is illegal
-The owner of the gun will be prosecuted because of this kids choice to steal a gun and kill with it.

What laws are relaxed?

Reporting is a major one. Gun show loopholes, too many violent offenders allowed to carry, and safety.
What gun show loophole?
I keep hearing about this, but no one has ever shown it exists.

Ah, never mind.
I found out what it is.
It is a buzz word for anti gun people to complain about how the government decided that the government does not have to oversee every single gun purchase.

You replied before I finished my edit....
The term is a misnomer, but it is fact private sellers, at a gun or otherwise, are not required to dry a background check. And it's not really defined when it goes from being a hobby to a business.
