Do you own a dog for security?

If so, then you are a coward.

Do you have a smoke detector in your home?
If so, you are a coward.

Would you still wear seat belts in your car if there were no seat belt laws?
If so then you are a coward.

Do you carry a cell phone for medical emergencies?
If so then you are a coward.

Do you wear a helmet while riding a bicycle even in jurisdictions where the law does not mandate it?
If so then you are a coward.

Do you not smoke cigarettes out of fear of cancer?
If so then you are a coward.

This is what I say to all those people worldwide who do any of the above while admonishing gun owners as "cowards".

Many anti-gunners are hypocrites.

Wait a minute....."Do you not smoke cigarettes out of fear of cancer?" "If so then you are coward."

So brave people will smoke despite the fact they know risk of getting cancer?

This argument is a complete non sequitur in regards to cell phones or even carrying a firearm for protection.

I had a much funnier response prepared but I'm giving you the chance to correct yourself.

edit: Just to highlight my desired response involved buttchugging vodka and freebasing opium in one's scrotum......unless you are a coward.

Many pro-gunners don't understand risk assesment and statistics apparently...

These are not very good comparisons, but I will agree with you that calling people who own guns cowards is rude and largely unwarranted.

I never claimed to be perfect, but thank you.

Being a coward means shirking danger while being selfish:

How is it SELFISH to carry a gun for personal security?

Is it selfish to "deprive" your lungs of deadly smoke from cigarettes?

I say it's selfish to give others cancer from second-hand smoke.

How is it selfish to deprive your brains the risk of being bashed into a car windshield or smeared along the pavement?

The definition actually has nothing to do with selfishness.
Definition of COWARD

: one who shows disgraceful fear or timidity

As far as I'm concerned, a coward is only a heinous person if danger is shirked out of regard for only self. Being afraid to stick one's head in a lion's mouth as a stunt is not shameful to me.

It's not really. I was being sarcastic.

Furthermore, I see no shame in owning a gun for self-preservation. It's a shame, rather humbling, to die unarmed when attacked violently.

I don't think that many gun-control supporters brand gun owners as cowards.

On RF it is quite the reverse. If members suggest decent home security, and methods of deterring crime and loss (before guns) they have often been called cowards!

The 'Comply with the demands of robbers' concept has often been described as cowardly, even though that is what most CVIT officers are taught.

Presumably you cling to guns for security and safety? You might do better to simply upgrade your home security.

And Guards dogs should be properly trained, managed and insured.

What would you do if some stranger tried to confront you in the street? I think you'd be wise to run to safety. Just get clear.
But if you were with your wife then you'd have to look out for her.
Are you married?

By all means carry a licensed and legal gun if it helps you to feel secure. But you should be trained, licensed, insured, have a secure home and gun safe, and have a clear criminal record.

When the aggressor is armed with a weapon and the victim is unarmed that's the act of a coward.

Oh please. Only cowards use guns for self defence.

I'm sick of this namby-pamby, watered down society where people think they're a big, strong man because they bought a gun. Anybody can use a gun. Even toddlers can (and frequently do) use guns. Pathetic.

Real men use halberds.

Are you saying its cowardly to install a smoke detector that may save your children's life if a domestic fire breakes out in the night. How callous is that?

Are you saying its cowardly to buckle up when knowing there are total idiots on the road, some of whom have taken a lunchtime tipple?

Never smoked cigarettes out of respect for my body

And i am quite attached to my skull

No, these things are not cowardly but failing to recognise and being aware of their danger is stupid.

I wonder how many people have been shot and killed by anti-gunners
