Trump's Benghazi

ecco

Veteran Member
A few years ago the Republicans tore into Hillary about lying to the American people about the cause of the Benghazi attack. They even went so far as to hold extensive (expensive) Congressional hearings.

Now we see that Donald Trump lied when he told the American people that no Americans were injured during the Iranian attack on the base at Ain al-Assad base.

US military says 11 US troops wounded in Iranian missile attack despite earlier denials

The United States military has said that 11 of its troops were wounded in an Iranian retaliatory missile attack last week despite Washington's initial claim denying casualties.

"While no US service members were killed in the January 8 Iranian attack on al-Asad Air base, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blasts and are still being assessed," US Central Command spokesman Captain Bill Urban said in a statement on Thursday.
Will the fair-minded Republicans initiate a Congressional Hearing to determine what Trump was trying to cover up?

Cover up what?

In the old days that wouldn't even be considered as casualties. Just a day with a profile.

Your assumption of cover up belies your call for
fair minded talk.

It is possible that he was unaware of the injuries that
did take place. at the time of the announcement.
Maybe nobody knew. No blood, no corpses.
That was the important part.

Having had (two) concussions myself, i can say that I
was not aware of them until hours later when I started
to get dizzy and nauseous.

I'd stay quiet about Benghazi if I were promoting the
democrats as those who tell the truth, and handle
emergencies well.

are you listening, @scoda?

If they did, they would need to wear the proper attire for such a ****-show hearing.

Hey, I know guys..! Let's make a big deal out of everything Trump does, even if it's meaningless in every way! :)

The hater's are real...

Personally, I think Trump is a big of an egotistical ***-hat... BUT...

He does try to keep his promises and I'll respect that of any elected official. At the end of the day he's a braggart and a douche, but he's 100% on our side and nothing he's done has indicated anything else to the contrary. Our ideal President would be without the bombastic personality, but I'll deal with that if he's doing his job which I feel he is. I don't have to like him personally to think he's doing his work well and few humans do actually work as hard as he does. Certainly, I have no doubt his agenda is related to his personal gain but he is smart enough to know what's "good" and "good for all" and he's unerringly sided with the latter philosophy.

So, if I was to score him on his ability to get things done and motivation 10/10. His ability to deal with conflict 10/10, but I still think his personality is abrasive and that's about 5/10. Still, I think he uses that abrasiveness as a tool to his advantage like few other people can. Ultimately, we all benefit from his moves so I can deal with him spouting off a bit -- it's minor, and I'm an adult. As long as I think he's doing his best to take care of America as a whole I think he's doing his job. I don't have to agree with every decision or policy he makes to feel that way -- I just know if something is major he's going to take care of it, and what more can you really ask?

The right did with Hillary Clinton for years and years and years and years. But when the shoe is on the other foot, oh no, not us. It's about you and never ever about us.

Ah, the fog of war. That excuse didn't keep the Republicans from accusing Hillary of a coverup. Turnabout can be a B***h.

Now now, there is no apt comparison and you know that.
I think both H and T stink, so its not a partisan position.
Im not even an American.

The Benghazi thing was as I recall, two things
Making up a story about a video
Not bothering to do anything to help.

How is it any different from the Clinton/Benghazi incident? Repubs made a BIG DEAL of that. As a reminder, they accused her of falsifying the reason for the attack. Then they held Congressional hearings. Trump falsified the number of casualties. Shouldn't we have congressional hearings?

Your memory is only half right - it was about the video. State reacted immediately and troops were sent in - sadly too late, but they were sent.

You are also ignoring that State asked Congress for more money to properly staff that, and other at-risk locations. Congress refused.

Just like conservatives did with Obama and Hillary?

So you want to imitate the Republicans. How unoriginal.

The difference is mountains vs. molehills.

I remember when conservatives were whining about how often Obama played golf. Yet when Trump far surpassed Obama's time spent on the courses, those who were whining are now mysteriously silent.
And let's not forget the squeals of "lock her up."
