Could a woman President actually be good for America?

This woman would have to not be pushing for more gun control as that does not sit well with voters in most Red states. The woman should also have to be compassionate toward the poor, the elderly, veterans and people with disabilities. She would have to support a strong middle-class and a strong manufacturing base and much improved infrastructure. Stewardship of the environment is also important. She also needs a tough immigration policy and an objective foreign policy. I want better work-life balance for working-class Americans. This working two or more jobs to make ends meet doesn't cut it with me. I like the middle-class lifestyle that unions would favor.

Why any specific requirements? All that we need is a woman that is an effective politician and of course has a lot of charisma. I know that charisma should not be a factor but in the real world if one cannot appeal to people on a more instinctual level one will not get very far in politics.

Depends upon the person, not the gender, race, religion, age, or ethnicity.
The trouble is many American voters take some or all of those things into consideration. Unless the person, man or woman, gets elected in the first place, the virtues that the person might have as President is a moot point.

Tis good for a presidential candidate to have
a record in other high offices.
Much about them can be learned from that.

To me it's the ISSUES that matter, not the charm, charisma or even the gender. I want to enjoy a middle-class lifestyle.

I want a 40 hour work week that
will also pay me well enough as a single man/no dependents to have a new 3-br house in pollution-free "Mayberry", a new Toyota pickup, a new bass boat and go hunting, fishing and/or boating every weekend.

To me, this is a UNION-scale lifestyle...
and I also want to keep my guns so
I don't have to go hunting with bows and arrows.

Mayberry is that great little American quiet and clean middle-class suburban town with shade trees and green lawns that's the epitome of the classic American Dream.

What can you do? What do you do?
You're going to have top work hard and earn all of the above.
You need to be needed to earn the above.

When American citizens aren't even NEEDED on American soil to achieve, that makes for a rotten nation. America needs to take foreigners out of the competition for America to succeed. Working hard and long for so little is on par with the evil of slavery. I was born in America. I only want to compete with others born in America. I don't want to compete with the whole globe to live the Middle Class Dream. I want my government to protect my economic interests. America First. The rest of the world can just die and go to hell.

The more older I get, the more I think we were sold a bill of goods along those lines.

That dream was for those who orchestrated the high profile ponzi scheme of middle class Leave it to Beaver bliss back in the fifties.

Mayberry was a fantasy that did not really exist except for some of those who were WASPs.

"Mayberry" did exist for me personally in the later half of the 20th century because there were WASPs, (English, Dutch and German Protestants) as well as Irish Catholics and French Catholics in my family tree. I come from a family tree of people all from western European and Christian ancestry. My "Mayberry" were both Novato, California and Woodside, California before the coming of this century. Coastal northern California was my personal Mayberry before the coming of that Gray Davis. Italians rightfully ran banks, large grocery retail and real estate in California as well as the wine industry. The Jews of European descent in California rightfully ran law, medicine, much of education, entertainment, the press and dentistry. The blacks did humble jobs like driving buses, porters, skycaps, shoe-shine boys and working in fast food. The Mexicans did humble jobs like farm work, landscaping and cleaning lady work. The few Chinese there were ran shops in Chinatown, ran laundry and dry cleaning and ran Chinese food joints. There was one Arab in 1978 who ran a small corner grocery store in San Franscisco's Noe District. White people then ran taxicab companies and the hotel industry. White people ran all the car dealerships and skilled trades shops. California was grand before the Chinese and other Asians slithered in like vipers to run a monopoly on real estate and banking in the state and the Indians slithered in like king cobras to take over taxicabs and the lodging industry and the Russians/Belorussians slithered in to run pizza businesses and shoddy home-improvement contracting work in Sacramento. The Russians also run shoddy car body and paint shops this century in the Sacramento Valley. Quality skilled/building-trades workmanship was formerly done by Americans/Californians of western European decent.

Even with foreigners we still have plenty of jobs going unfilled. I have zero empathy or sympathy for Americans who won't work. A part of that union thing you support is working hard for your fair share. Granted, we need better pay all round to where you are at least comfortable and without basic need of you work full time, but you're asking a lot just for working. Good sized houses and new trucks aren't cheap. Probably, a 40 hour job should be able to support one person at least. A family should earn enough to support a family with the second income. If you want more, lavish, big and new, you need to do more than just hold a job.

My family is primarily Irish. Mayberry has never existed for us, and to the contrary my mom grew up very poor, learned to fight young, and sold pills for the extra cash when she was younger. Myself, I've never went without basic needs but still grew up poor, and there was no such thing as Mayberry when it came to school.

I blame a lot of it when industry (almost overnight) packed up and left the country.
Also the Eco Nazi movement played a huge role when it picked up steam and later convinced and bought out the socialist Democrats obligating to place suffocating industry killing regulations that literally ran major plants outta Dodge (like out of the country) along with countless jobs leaving cities like Detroit, Buffalo, Bethlehem, Flint, Chicago, and others with massive rusting derelict shells in it's stead of a once thriving industrial community to fend for themselves without it's industrial base.

The American dream died for a lot of people.

In 1979, my father worked 40-hour work weeks to support a family of four people (plus 8 dogs and two cats) living in a 3-br/2-car home and we paid off our 1975 Toyota station wagon we bought new. He was a DOD electrician for the Dept. of the Navy at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California. He transferred there from Hunter's Point in San Francisco in 1973. My mother was a stay-at-home housewife as was my grandmother. We lived a good middle-class life then in now-very-rich Woodside, California. My grandfather and my grandmother in Woodside also lived high on the hog from my grandfather's pension, he retired in 1973, from union operating engineers, heavy equipment operator, 15 years. My grandparents had a nice Woodside, CA home of their own and two rental 3-br home units next door built in 1965. Both my father and grandfather had 40-hour work weeks and had weekends off. I want only what my father and grandfather had and no more but no less. Every generation of parents always wanted better for their children.

My family often ate T-bone/Porterhouse steaks and pizza on paydays. Most food was home-cooked by my mother as baked ham, pot roast and fried chicken. We also had a 1973 Datsun pickup truck.
On birthdays all during the 1970's we had nice cakes from fancy bakeries in Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo, CA. Yummy Chantilly chocolate cakes from Blum's bakery and divine rich St. Honore puff-pastry cream liqueur cakes from Petrini's bakery. Life for my 1970's middle-class working-class American family was sweet and delicious.

The Dem Libs progressively opened our borders and all these vipers from The East slithered in. This is why I can no longer enjoy my Petrini's St. Honore cakes in San Mateo, CA. This is why I can no longer enjoy summers on sandy warm California beaches. California was an American Dream when the Beach Boys were young and Momma Cass was alive.
