Is all news "fake news"..?

I have been asking some other posters to teach me what fake news is, and to give me some examples, but in the end, their consensus was that all news is opinionated -but yet, nobody would make the connecting leap to say that ALL news is fake news.

So please, explain to me what is fake news and what is not fake news. I need examples. Thanks.

what's the difference between Alex Jones and Rachael Maddow? Is Anderson Cooper "fake news"?

...I don't get it.

Fake news is news that is either completely fiction, fiction to the point any factual information is irrelevant, or the bias whitewashes the factual information.

There is nothing that fits this description though, that I can locate.

...Therefore either all modern news agencies are "fake news", or "fake news" is an imaginary concept.

I had to look up Rachel Maddow, so my assessment could be off...

...but Alex Jones peddles conspiracy theories based on little in the way of factual information, such as chemtrails and New World Order stuff whereas Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper appear to be biased, but seem mostly to base their opinions off of mostly factual information.

The way I see it, all news has an element of fake.
It varies, but one must always be skeptical, lest
their agenda & error corrupt ones weltanschauung.

Well then, is it acceptable that Trump calls CNN fake news? If the concept of fake news is subjective?

...Or is there some objectively identifiable fake news out there in the mainstream that can be cited as such?

Some are more fake than others.
I'd just call CNN left leaning.

One good tip is to stick with news sources that serve less that attempt to be emotionally neutral and refrain from using wording that implies emotion or dictates how the reader should feel about it. The more subjective wording, chances are good the worse it is. News should be sticking to the facts. It shouldn't be pro or anti anything, and though bias is not entirely avoidable, sources that obviously swing too strongly towards any direction probably aren't good.

I believe there are reasonable 'tests' that can differentiate 'fake news' from real news and that is relying on multiple sources, and various 'truth testing sources' that show their sources and reasons for their judgements. Fact testing is easier than judgement checking.

I recommend: Our latest fact-checks | PunditFact

I believe another important element concerning what is and is not 'fake news' and that is the test of time.

I like watching Fox News, but I never totally rely on their news reports alone. I Identify if the information I'm obtaining is opinion, general information, or propaganda. I compare Fox news reports with news reports from other news outlets. I never blindly trust Fox News without verification of its reporting from other sources of news reporting. I'm very wary of getting news from social networks.

I agree, question only is how big is the "element". They twist and turn and...
