What does the Day of Resurrection & the Day of Judgement mean to you?

These terms are very mystical or spiritual and always fascinated me because explanations offered just seemed too superstitious. I believe that most interpretations of these two very important terms needs clarification.

Most think these days are days of dread, anything but a normal day. How are we to know it is the Day of Resurrection or Judgement without superstitious interpretations? Could these Days pass us by without knowing.

The Day of Resurrection is a day on which the sun riseth and setteth like unto any other day. How oft hath the Day of Resurrection dawned, and the people of the land where it occurred did not learn of the event” (The Bab)

Exploring further the meanings of resurrection I found these words - Synonyms: reanimation, rebirth, regeneration, rejuvenation, rejuvenescence, renewal, resurgence, resuscitation, revitalization, revival, revivification.

Now looking at the different meanings I can think it could be a Day of the renewal of religion. And why not?

Could we be living in these Days of Judgement and Resurrection now without knowing it? What do you think might be being resurrected? Science? I said religion but that’s just my opinion.

How are we judged? If God gave us free will to believe or disbelieve then judging us for not believing isn’t that taking away our free will to disbelieve? Or is it us who judge ourselves by our acceptance or denial of whatever God may offer to us? One man may be a liar another truthful so is it our actions that judge us to be either sinner or saint?

Abrahamic ghost story.

I think it’s just an ordinary day when we unknowingly ‘transition’ from one era to another. We accept we are living in a modern scientific age now but that wasn’t the case over 100 years ago. So things changed but no one told us we had entered a new age, we just realized it after some time had passed when science changed the world we knew, so drastically.

I think now too we are in an age of ‘judgement’ adopting new ideas and throwing away old beliefs and ideas that don’t work anymore. Things today like racism are being rejected which was acceptable in past ages.

The world has never stopped changing - right from day one. Nothing new. The juggernaut of science will trash the funny beliefs like God, soul, reincarnation, manifestation, day of judgment, etc. How long can false belief survive!

I agree science will clean up a lot of misconceptions and superstitions and will play an important role in uniting us. Some beliefs on your list like God etc though I believe it will confirm.

It means time to go to hell?

Both are Christian concepts in my understanding. But I would think we see it in other religions too but in different wordings.
Personally, I do not think Jesus will come back the way Christians believe, but the resurrection in my understanding is more similar to when someone in the Christian faith reaches a form of enlightenment.

Judgment day is every day since we are measured on how we behave every day, but the difference between Christianity and Asian Religions or Cultivation paths is that Christians believe it to only be one day of judgment when everything stand or fall, whereas I believe in Karma and that happens all the time when we do wrong deeds.

I think it's the absence of God's presence, and without that presence there is no joy, happiness, fun, or healing.

...It would be like Annie in Robin Williams ' movie What Dreams May Come.

Awesome!

I think paradise could also mean nearness to or belief in God and hell could be to be far away or disbelieve in Him.

Hi Amanaki, spreader of spiritual joy and fragrances?

Yes day can mean one his day’ which include an age or an entire lifetime.

But wasn’t the Day of Buddha a Day of both Resurrection and Judgement? A Day when new truths were resurrected and old superstitions Judged as false band discarded?

The language used is different but Buddha did resurrect truth in its pure form and judged some ideas as fallacies.

Another ‘judgement’ might be that those who rejected the Buddha deprived themselves of His wisdom? Thus by their own rejection they condemned themselves to remain at a lower level of spiritual development which Buddha could have prevented had they turned to Him?

I think you can see it this way in a spiritual sense yes.
If you see each moment as a rise and fall it would be correct to say that resurrection is the arising of a new moment where we can do righteous acts, speech, and thoughts.
And judgment is in the moment where we do right or wrong action, speech or thoughts., because every time we do something, say something or think something, we can either do right or wrong.
When we do right we gain virtue, and when we do wrong we end up paying with suffering seen as karma.

You have such insight. Thanks for your thoughts. Our celebration was a huge success.

To me it means what Dr. John E. Esslemont describes in his book….
He says it so well, so no need for me to reinvent the wheel.

As he says, the Day of Judgment is also the Day of Resurrection.

The Day of Judgment
The Great Resurrection

Buddha had no need for a God or Allah. He advised against such useless talk calling them Acinteyya (topics that should not be contemplated upon - The arrow parable - "If a person was shot with an arrow, would he first try to find of what metal the arrow was made, etc."). He said you are born anew every moment (The River parable - "You cannot put your feet again in the same river").

Our actions will bring immediate results as well as long-term results, all through the life-time; and will affect other people even when we are no more. Buddha did not believe in any other life. He said life is "anatta" (without substance) and "anicca" (transitory). When one dies, one is truly dead, gone, gone and gone completely (Gate, Gate, Paragate, Parasamgate). He did not believe in self, soul or atma. This is to clear the Buddhist position. I am a disciple of Buddha. Bahais should not try to twist Buddhas message to their designs.

For me the Day of Resurrection & the Day of Judgement means the end of unrighteousness and evil and the win for truth and love.

This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn't come to the light, lest his works would be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God."
John 3:19-21

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

The day of resurrection is the day I can judge my Self.
