Christianity Today “ Trump should be removed from office”

Good to know that some right wing Christians (oxymoron?) are realizing that maybe Jesus was right all along.
I described them as conservative in the OP. Since then I have seen the editor in interviews describe the magazine as centrists.

Of course this is all relative and subjective, I still think they are conservative though perhaps not far right, and certainly not left.

So instead of due process, it becomes Pelosi's little plaything. Oh, I get it all right.
Plaything? Really?

As I said, you don't get it. Perhaps because you don't understand it.

In a civil criminal case, there is an indictment. During an indictment, only the prosecution is permitted to present evidence.

The House impeachment is similar to a civil indictment except that the defense, Trump/Repubs were allowed to present evidence.

In a civil criminal case, there is a jury trial. During the trial both the prosecution and the defense are allowed to call witnesses and present evidence.

For the Senate trial, the Democrats want to call witnesses and present evidence.

The Repubs don't want this.

Can you imagine a civil trial where the prosecution cannot call witnesses? But, that's what you want for your Jesus/God/Fuhrer/President. I wonder why.

Trump Should Be Removed from Office

“.., the facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.“

What the editorial is saying here is obviously true.

Do you think it will have any impact, coming from a conservative evangelical source?
No impact here.
To really grasp why the former VP chose to run for the 2020 election you have to understand what the timeline of events that took place had been. Joe knew what was coming, that's why he had held off on his presidential bid until April. He didn't want to run — I remember. If Ukraine had not elected a corruption fighting president, Joe would not have ran. It was a strategic move to give his base a reason to accuse the POTUS of tampering with a Candidate set to create distraction.

And the evidence, BTW, is that foreign aid was not withheld to Ukraine. It met the timeframe/deadline. The aid is always given in advance. There was no pressure.

Why did the President of Ukraine make plans to announce the investigations on CNN and why did he then cancel those plans after the aid was released?

The president of Ukraine is trying to stay away from partisan politics.
The aid was being held partially because the other countries that have been benefiting most from Ukraine were not putting up enough aid. POTUS said we put up a bigger bulk of that aid. Still, in the end, it’s about timing and agreed upon deadlines, not democratic conspiracy.

Yes I think the President of the Ukraine tried to stay out of U.S. politics. Nevertheless he was pressured into announcing the investigations on CNN. He even booked an interview with Fareed Zakaria to make that announcement. When the aid was released so was the pressure, and so the interview was canceled.

Q: "Have you felt any pressure by Pres. Trump to investigate Joe Biden?"
Zelensky: "I think you read everything. I think you read text. I'm sorry, but I don't want to be involved to democratic, open elections of USA. We had, I think, good phone call. It was normal."

If he didn’t feel any pressure he would say he didn’t feel any pressure.

If he did feel pressure he would still say he didn’t feel any pressure.

His answer means nothing.

Look at his actions.

You do not seem to understand that if he acknowledged the pressure that he would have been interfering in U.S. politics. The best that he could do was to deny.

Exactly. Trump put Zelensky in a very difficult spot. Zelensky was elected as the anti-corruption candidate and desperately needs US (read: Trump's) support. There is no incentive for him to say that he was complicit in doing a political favor in order to secure the aid, only downside. His actions, not to mention Trump's, say it all.
