Does your religion teach the concept of hate? In what capacity and to what end?

Do you hate?

Do you see any practical use for hatred?

I think there's more of a rejection in people, that leads toward times of hate. But obsessive, non-relenting hatred is absolutely irreligious and impractical.

Yes. I feel hated in among my own religion. among my own family.

Yes. Their religion, ( please note the distinction ) teaches hatred.

In my opinion: in Hebrew Hate = Rah. Wickedness. And Rah ( wickedness ) is not supposed to be Jewish, and yet in all branches of Judaism ( except Haredi ) there is indeed a real problem where the texts are miss-used and miss-interpreted to reinforce their own desire to hate.

And then this is passed on to the kids, and the feeling of superiority and elitism is like a virus and a cancer that is spreading.

And, no. I don't see any practical use of hatred outside of a Military context or a personal survival context.

you also asked: "Do you hate?" Yes. I hate myself. but that's a whole different topic.

Of course I hate myself sometimes too. "Sometimes" being the key word. :)

Bro, it'a alive and well... in spite of being complete hypocrisy. At least in Reform and Conservative Judaism. They teach hatred of Muslims. And also Spiritual Jews. And they hate Torah. And they are teaching it to the kids.

Imagine what it's like: life as a spiritual Jew living in America. I've seen hate from the inside. I've seen hate all my life.

Impractical hatred? and Irreligious hatred? it's alive and well and flourishing with the help of Jewish seminaries and clergy in the Reform and Conservative Jewish movements in America.

Oh yeah... edit to add: They teach the kids to hate Christians too... it's absolutely abhorrent...

I suppose I tend to overlook it out of my own yearning for it's opposite.

Is that me running and hiding? It's possible, but there are a lot of paths to choose.

I'm a subscriber to self-loathing. I also think self-hatred increases with post count- by the time you hit that 5000 post milestone, you'll dislike yourself for when you had 0 posts.

But let's ask an expert on this subject. @Revoltingest ?

We should not hate, but hate or dislike can be one of the most difficult attachments to make an end to. Because hate also contains jealousy, greed, delusion. So working on letting it go is truly one of the most important aspects of a spiritual lifestyle.

I try not to hate anyone or anything, but I know sometimes my word can seem very hard or sometimes hateful, but that is not my intention

I subscribe to Popular Science, Smithsonian, & National Geographic.

Hate is a human feature. Religions might be able to lessen or inflame it.
But beware the ones who deny it. To deny hatred...to claim being above
it is to ignore it, which allows it to fester & grow.

@SalixIncendium

In my research this is the same problem in Islam. It may seem ironic from an outside perspective. but if you're someone like me with friends and family on both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict... in Israel... it's not ironic. It's the root cause of a multi-generational never-ending military war.

And it's awful. I'm very empathetic. And I can feel both sides of this. It's torture.

Southern Presbyterianism is by necessity a post-war phenomenon, and as far as Robert Lewis Dabney goes, as far as I can tell, there isn't any hatred in a Chivalric surrender in 1866 when he wrote Stonewall Jackson's Biography. It Maintains the position of the legality of States inarguable to anyone, can leave the Union. I think the actual biography was screened with a Union audience. Nothing very alienating or opinionated occurs. Does Jesus Christ ever persecute, either?

The internet repudiates a literal few sentences on a lazy African race, that probably is more akin to a 1920's statement, instead of 1866, for whatever good all of those benchmarks ever do. In that vein, do people not notice when government has outlawed Southern Presbyterianism? Do people not notice that full Half of our view of our own politics in a schism, would be lost, because of the post-Eisenhower Republican platform? Didn't the North in the 1800's Not free the Blacks or change their situation, but Sold their Blacks to the South exclusively and rid themselves of the welfare of the African American, notes Robert Dabney.

Don't we have 50 stars in a blue field originating from the 13 stripes of 13 colonies, or is there any such President assigned after the Articles of Confederation, assigned after the State signatories of the Constitution? Has any but Presbyterianism been the safeguard of our Patriotic American spirit since the arrival of the Westminster Confession Puritans on those 1620's shores and the City Upon a Hill? What has Eisenhower done to dismiss this. This has grown quieter, and not louder, directly from where he stood on inauguration day.

What practical use do you see in hatred in a military context or in a personal survival context? Is hate requisite in defending oneself against an adversary?

I won't ask why here since you didn't choose to share. But I will ask this: do you find self-hatred in any way practical? If so, why?

Certainly I've never seen it taught or spoken of in my faith, and I see no useful purpose in it. However, I understand how it can build up in individuals or groups over time with such things as repeated persecution, or trying to fit into a group that is full of hate.

And, as usual, I don't always see words and actions as agreeing. Some religions or practitioners preach love (for their own kind) but practice hate at most everyone else, but are unable to see it, blinded by anava.

Yes. but not requisite. You've spoken about it before. Except in that context the word you used was Anger.

Hate supports and reinforces Anger. And that means anytime a physical effort is needed for pursuit of anything ( right or wrong ) Hate becomes a useful tool. I don't like it. I don't employ it myself. I go to Love for strength when I need to overcome a physical obstacle. But speaking academically, between me and you...

Hate is useful in a military context or in a survival situation. Not panic. But Hate. yes is useful.

Does that help to explain it?

If there is a logical or spiritual fault in anything I have said... please do share. As I said. I feel tortured by all this. So if you have some words that may eventually bring relief to that... i am so so open to hearing those.

Good memory, but I don't equate anger and hate. Different emotions entirely.

Yes, anger can lead to hatred, but I've also seen hatred in the absence of anger as well as anger in the absence of hatred.

In my opinion, if one is defending oneself with the purpose of survival, both anger an hate can cloud one's judgment and cause one to behave irrationally which may not be not conducive to survival.

There is no hate in the religion I follow, which is Swedenborgianism; this religion teaches its followers to be altruistic.

I dislike hate, because hate is very destructive rather than constructive.

I'd just like to replace the world hate with "rejection". I find it more comprehensible as a concept that way.

...Are they synonymous?
