Trump Plays The "All Jews Have Lots Of Money" Card

"Given the way Republicans have repeatedly condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar for being anti-Semitic by pointing to sloppy phrasing or tweets and casting them in the worst possible light, you would think they’d be up in arms over what Donald Trump said this weekend to the Israeli American Council.

If you’re keeping a list, he blatantly said they “don’t love Israel enough” and proclaimed that they had to vote for him or else they’d lose their money.

In his 45-minute speech to an audience of more than 4,300, the president criticized American Jews who, he said, were not sufficiently supportive of the Jewish state.

“You have people — Jewish people — and they are great people and they don’t love Israel enough,” he said.

The comments were reminiscent of remarks he made in August when he said that Jews who vote for Democrats were disloyal, drawing a vociferous backlash.

“You’re not going to vote for the wealth tax,” he went on. “Let’s take 100 percent of your wealth away. No, no. Even if you don’t like me — and some of you don’t; some of you, I don’t like at all, actually — and you’re going to be my biggest supporters because you’ll be out of business in about 15 minutes.”

No one, of course, is proposing a tax of 100% on wealthy people. (Sen. Elizabeth Warren has proposed a policy to tax the wealthy an addition $0.02 per dollar for every additional dollar they make after $50 million.)

If Trump wasn't such an *** **** he'd be entertaining.

Is Jewry that monolithic?
It's like he said all Italo-Americans should vote for Democrats because of Pelosi...
Or ...that all Catholics vote for Democrats because Pope Francis restlessly condemns and bashes Trump ( he called him unchristian, Herod...and worse names)...
Which is not true...I mean the Slavic Catholic Nations all vote for the right

Honestly....if I say that the Vatican is rotten, it doesn't mean I imply all Catholics are bad ( I feel one, I am one)...so I think these speeches are utterly meaningless...

There's nothing wrong with any particular group of people being prosperous; the problem is when a particular group hoards cash among themselves without sharing their prosperity with those of whom they've exploited.

Trump is anti-Semitic and can't help himself because he has the self-control of a two year old.

Well, he did first say that they're great people.
Not that Jews aren't as good as anyone else, but If one does a "my favorite-word" count of Trump's utterances "great" comes in at ninth place,* so I wouldn't put any stock in the fact that he uses it in reference to Jews.

I believe he even told America that his bowel movements were great. So there you are.

That's what the left says about the billionaires in the US who hoard their money. It's time to have the super-rich start paying their fair share for the benefit of the many. I'm glad to see you agree with the left on this point.

As far as I can see, he uses it because he thinks all Jews are real-estate speculators like him and anyone like him is great by definition. To him.

Trump's daughter and son-in-law are Jews, also Trump is a staunch supporter of Israel, which proves Trump is not a Jew hater.

I think you have it 180 degrees off.
Yes, he's bigoted regarding Jews....but pro-Jew.
Btw, it's not better.

It is not even a question of being pro or anti Jew. Trump believes the stereotypes about Jews, especially regarding money. It is a shallow and ignorant way of looking at the world.

He is a racist, he believes the stereotypes about Jews, about Blacks, about Mexicans etc.

“Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. Those are the kind of people I want counting my money. Nobody else.” - Donald Trump.

This is the kind of garbage in the White House.

Warren’s wealth tax is not an income tax, but would actually impose a 2% annual tax on wealth over $50 million and a 3% tax on wealth over $1 billion.

Let's suppose somebody were to have accumulated $100 million of wealth and he were to have a nominal annual income starting at age 50. At age 51, Elizabeth Warren's wealth tax would shrink his wealth down to $99 million, at age 52 his wealth is down to $98.02 million, down to 97.08 million at age 53, $96.14 million at age 54, $95.22 million at age 55, $94.32 million at age 56, $93.44 million at age 57, $92.57 million at age 58, $91.72 million at age 59. $90.95 million at age 60, $90.13 million at age 61, $89.33 million at age 62, $88.54 million at age 63, $87.77 million at age 64, $87 million at age 65, $86.26 million at age 66, $85.54 million at age 67, $84.83 million at age 68, $84.14 million at age 69, $83.46 million at age 70, $82.79 million at age 71, $82.14 million at age 72, $81.5 million at age 73, $80.87 million at age 74, $80.25 million at age 75, $79.65 million at age 76, $79.06 million at age 77, $78.48 million at age 78, $77.91 million at age 79, and $77.35 million at age 80.

Hence, Elizabeth Warren's wealth tax would take this hypothetical person's wealth from $100 million down to $77.35 million over a period of 30 years; that'd be a 22.65 percent reduction of wealth imposed by Warren's wealth tax upon this hypothetical person.

What really matters to me and my few black or my few Hispanic Facebook friends is how our Trump-led Trumped up economy has resulted in record low unemployment numbers for Blacks and Hispanics; they are now more prosperous than ever before. The overall rate of U .S. poverty is the lowest in decades. Our P.O.T.U.S. has many black supporters like Kayne West, Larry Elders, Lynne Patton, and Dennis Rodman, which prove Donald J. Trump is hardly a racist.

Nope. You are wrong, tragically wrong, dangerously wrong. NEVER AGAIN

Being Jewish I recognize the antisemitic dog whistle. And I'm far far far from alone. Just two of many many examples of his bigotry. He in inciting and encouraging crimes against minorities.

Trump Escalates Anti-Semitic Rhetoric Amid Impeachment Calls

The stereotype of Jews as “shifty,” the suggestion that they are sneaky and manipulative, has a long and ignominious history. Trump — who “often plays on well-worn caricatures about cleverness, deviousness, and physical weakness”
...
One reason is that Trump’s anti-Semitism is nothing new. He was an anti-Semite when he accused U.S. Jews of being dumb and disloyal. He was an anti-Semite when he praised neo-Nazis as “very fine people.” He was an anti-Semite when he referred to comedian Jon Stewart as Jonathan Leibowitz. He was an anti-Semite when he kept — no joke — a book of Hitler’s speeches next to his bed.

Trump is trafficking in anti-Semitic tropes. It must stop (opinion) - CNN

The condemnation of Trump's words was swift. Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg tweeted, "It's not even coded antisemitism. It's not a dog whistle. He's saying this. Out loud. To a room full of Jews."

Journalist Emily Tamkin tweeted that Trump's view that, "Jews won't vote for the candidate who wants a wealth tax because Jews are all about wealth" is "an old trope often used to justify violent discrimination."

Being Jewish I recognize....
Uh oh...the argument from authority.
Perhaps being not Jewish confers more objectivity.
But it could also be that your fervent anti-Trumpism
requires you to see the worst...even when it's not there.
