I’m glad you have a good dog friend. Animals are beautiful companions. My cat died a few years ago, but when I go out walking in my neighbourhood I meet quite a few. I’m a cat whisperer.

you know I think american and maybe the greater western culture is having a serious debate with itself on how social we should be... seems like there have been endless articles in the past decade that fall into either of these two camps: that you should learn to enjoy yourself, or that being alone is unhealthy. I kind of feel like a serious debate between these two camps hasn't even occurred yet in the culture
That's what I don't get. Being alone is, unarguably by anyone who takes the issue seriously, terribly unhealthy. Enjoying your me time is good, important even, but really only in small doses. We just biologically are not programed to be alone. We need others.
Digital technology is making humanity stupid and antisocial.
Very much so. Ever since I learned I have Asperger's, and how that does actually put me at a disadvantage, I began to make efforts into improving those areas I struggle in. And not too long after that social media takes off and becomes a thing, and not to long after that we start seeing reports of socializing in general taking a dive, as I'm attempting to learn to navigate it.

Why exactly is being alone a negative thing, I'm alone and other than this forum, which I had to learn the hard way being alone has kept me from arguing with people which I'm still trying to do here oh, that is not argue LOL hahaha I would agree that being social is good if it didn't take a beating and rejection and on and on and so forth if you don't agree with everything everybody says! Oops did I say that?

Totally agree.
I don’t think any chimps, meerkats or kookaburras ever decided to live alone.
And they wouldn’t have survived long.

I can easily relate to that. Apparently I am also on the Aspergers spectrum. That is probably why I was a sitting duck for narcissists.
