Supreme Court hears biggest Second Amendment Case in a Decade

After nearly a decade of silence, a divided Supreme Court grappled Monday for over an hour with a case testing the scope of an individual's right to keep and bear arms in a dispute concerning a New York City gun regulation.

The case is being carefully watched by supporters of gun rights who want the newly solidified conservative majority of the court to broaden those rights. But looming over the case is the fact that after the Supreme Court agreed to hear the issue, the law at issue was changed.

Second amendment supporters/NRA see this as a sign that the SCOTUS may start overturning state laws on gun restrictions.

The reports so far indicate the the Court is likely to declare the case moot.

Then why hear the case at all? The law was already appealed for fear the supreme would take it on. No legislative action is to be taken, so no need to hear the case at all. So why did they decide to hear the case anyway?

From a news report I ready, they agreed to take the case then NYC repealed the ordinance and New York passed a bill to deny other localities the right pass

Then the pro-gun people wanted the case heard anyway.

If this were to happen based on the five Republican-appointed justices, then this would show just how shallow the Republican claim that they're "political conservatives" actually is. "State's rights" has long been one of the hallmarks of conservatism here in the States. And Trump certainly is not a political conservative, nor an economic conservative, nor a social conservative, nor a libertarian.
