Christians - How do you ‘watch and pray’ for Christ’s Return

Revelation 3:12
Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

So the name of the new Jérusalem , the new religion and the name of its followers will only be known to them who ‘overcometh’ pass the test of sincerity and a pure heart for Jesus said the ‘blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God’ and to see God is to recognise His Manifestation when He appears. That is what I believe.
Then it doesn't make sense to me, why are you not accepting me as the Messiah who Baha'u'llah told Baha'i to watch for?

"How great the blessedness that awaiteth the king who will arise to aid My Cause in My kingdom, who will detach himself from all else but Me! Such a king is numbered with the companions of the Crimson Ark--the Ark which God hath prepared for the people of Bahá. All must glorify his name, must reverence his station, and aid him to unlock the cities with the keys of My Name (Zion), the omnipotent Protector of all that inhabit the visible and invisible kingdoms. Such a king is the very eye (Zinda) of mankind, the luminous ornament on the brow of creation, the fountainhead of blessings unto the whole world. Offer up, O people of Bahá, your substance, nay your very lives, for his assistance." - (Bahá'u'lláh, Kitáb-i-Aqdas, 1873)

Sananda is the New Name of Christ according to Theosophy, as Sanananda is the son of Brahma, and Yahavah is Lord Brahma.

Sandalphon is an Archangel in Heaven who interacts with mankind; thus a pillar between Heaven, and Earth.

Zion is used as the name of New Jerusalem throughout the Bible, and it used in 'our divine being Zion' (Psalms 146:10, Psalms 147:12, Isaiah 52:7).

Revelation 3:12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar (Sandalphon) in the temple of my God, and he will go out from there no more. I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God (Zion), the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name (Sananda).

Does anyone get Baha'u'llah's & Blatvatsky's work was that the Divine Council have worked together to correlate the Matreya/Messiah/Final Avatar, as the linking point of all religion, and none of you are paying much attention to any of it - it is like siting arguing I exist in the most religious place, and none notices.

In my opinion. :innocent:

So Christ is not a good thief :) A thief that everybody sees :)

Also let's hope no one is asleep and it is night time. Wouldn't want those material peepers to miss out on such a special display of might and power.

I guess I wasn’t very clear or you didn’t understand fully what I posted. When Christ removes His church “everybody” does not see or comprehend what’s happened.

Dear Tony, it says every eye will see this person that had been pieced. Why is that not a reference to Jesus? And, instead, to Baha'u'llah?

Dear CG :)

I see this in an entirely different way, as I see these event with the explanations Baha'u'llah has given us. The Kitab-i-Iqan is that book I have told you about.

I see that those that pierced Jesus, have pierced all God's Messengers, as I see one and all they are the beginning and the end. Those that shot the Bab, shot Christ. Those that Banished Baha'u'llah, banished Christ, Banished Moses and Abraham, Krishna and Zoroaster. We can add all God's Messengers into that explanation. They one and all have shared what all the Manifestations have been afllicted with.

In this passage I see the Ancient Beauty is just that, all God's Messengers revealed in Bahaullah, the Glory of God.

"The Ancient Beauty hath consented to be bound with chains that mankind may be released from its bondage, and hath accepted to be made a prisoner within this most mighty Stronghold that the whole world may attain unto true liberty. He hath drained to its dregs the cup of sorrow, that all the peoples of the earth may attain unto abiding joy, and be filled with gladness. This is of the mercy of your Lord, the Compassionate, the Most Merciful. We have accepted to be abased, O believers in the Unity of God, that ye may be exalted, and have suffered manifold afflictions, that ye might prosper and flourish. He Who hath come to build anew the whole world, behold, how they that have joined partners with God have forced Him to dwell within the most desolate of cities!"

Big subject. Keep going CG, you are continually asking the right questions.

Regards Tony

By the mid 1800’s the Bible had been spread to ever continent - worldwide.
As people are born and die there will always be people the Bible ‘has not reached ‘. But this is not referring to that but that the Gospel would have extended its reach internationall to reach all the world.
M. H. Goyer writes in his book on prophetic fulfilment: “The British and
Foreign Bible Society (for one example) has issued, since its foundation in
1804, over 421 million copies of the Scriptures, in practically every country
known throughout the globe.”
In Our Day in the Light of Prophecy, Spicer wrote that the Gospel in his
day had been spread ‘to ninety-five per cent of the inhabitants of the earth.’ He
added: “It was in 1842 that five treaty-ports in China were open to commerce
and to missions—advance steps in the opening of all China to the Gospel. In
1844 Turkey was prevailed upon to recognise the right of the Moslems to
become Christians, reversing all Moslem tradition. In 1844 Alan Gardiner
established the South American Mission. In 1842 Livingstone’s determination
was formed to open the African interior.”
Dr A. T. Pierson in Modern Mission Century wrote: “India, Siam, Burma,
China, Japan, Turkey, Africa, Mexico, South America … were successively
and successfully entered. Within five years, from 1853 to 1858, new facilities
were given to the entrance and occupation of seven different countries, together
embracing half the world’s population.”
There were many additional references which made it clear that the Gospel
of Christ, and its teachers, had entered every continent by the year 1844,
spreading the Word of Jesus the Christ throughout the world.
This was considered by the students of Scripture to be in exact fulfilment
of the words of Christ given in Mark.

Thank you for all of your research, however I find there have been a lot of people born since 1844 +.
Yes, new people being born each day and Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8 is Not about each person.
For one, parents are responsible for minor children as they were in Noah's day.
Today, modern technology has made possible rapid Bible translation so that people in remote parts of the Earth can have access to Scripture in their own mother tongue or native languages. That was Not in existence in the 1800's.
For example: Navajo Indians did Not have Scripture in their 'own language' back then but today they do.
Plus, the ' final signal ', so to speak, of 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 did Not happen back then.
This 'final signal' coupled with the selfish distorted form of love the world now displays as per 2 Timothy 3:1-5,13 did Not happen in the 1800's, but as we can now see in the news people are Not open to agreement, fierce, etc.
Also, in the 1800's the 'powers that were ' did Not surprisingly turn on the world's corrupted religions, foremost Christendom ( so-called Christian but mostly in name only ).- Matthew 7:21-23
House cleaning, so to speak, will start with the House of God ( those professing to be Christians ). - 1 Peter 4:17

I never heard of Christ removing his church ( congregation ), however ' house cleaning ' does start with the house of God - 1 Peter 4:17.
What will be removed will be those who prove false as per Matthew 7:21-23.
The figurative humble ' sheep ' will remain - Matthew 25:32-33,37,40; Proverbs 2:21-22.
People will comprehend 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 because the powers that be will turn on the religious world.
That will prove to be the trigger as the precursor to the coming great tribulation of Revelation 7:14,9.
The ' sheep ' can remain alive on Earth, and continue to live on Earth right into calendar Day One of Jesus' coming 1,000-year reign over Earth when there will be ' healing ' for earth's nations - Revelation 22:2

While I agree with a couple of your points, most of what you said I understand to be Watchtower doctrine which I consider to be twisting the biblical scriptures.

loverofhumanity said: I believe. the majority of people can see the sun in the sky without any need for signs or proofs. So too the Suns of Truth. Billions of people clearly see the Sun of Truth in Christ, Buddha, Muhammad, Krishna and so in because Their Light shines brightly like the physical sun. But if our vision, physical or spiritual is impaired then no matter how brightly these Suns shine their light it will not be apparent to us.

Yet you wrote: I believe that the signs accompanying His Return have been misread.

So apparently the majority of people have impaired 'physical or spiritual vision', because SOMEHOW they managed to misread the sun in the sky. And if there are NO NEED FOR SIGNS, what 'signs accompanying His return' are you talking about?
Imo, billions of people clearly see the Sun of Truth in Christ, Buddha, Muhammad, Krishna and so in because we have had TIME to recognize them. Baha'u'llah is much too new on the scene for people to see Him for who He was, the Return of Christ and the Messiah, so that is why we need more concrete proofs. Those proofs come to us by way of Bible prophecies that have been fulfilled.

William Sears, Thief in the Night

No rational person could deny all these prophecies that have clearly been fulfilled, yet the adherents to Judaism will deny them and will keep waiting for the Messiah made in their own image according to their interpretation of scriptures, and Christians will keep waiting for the same Jesus to return in the same body, because that is how they have interpreted the NT. When vision is clouded by what people already believe and what they want, it is impossible to see what actually happened.

I’d prefer this thread in general debates as it is a topic not confined to only Christians but moderators please feel most welcome to move it if you wish.

Christ said to ‘watch and pray’ for His Return.

My understanding is He said this so that His Second Coming would not be missed.

How will you know from your own watching and praying whether He has returned or not? Or will you rely on scholars, priests ministers and clergy or the pope to inform you?

I think Jesus left a couple of clues. To know the difference between a true Prophet and a false Prophet He said that a good tree cannot bring forth bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bring forth good fruit, that He who testifies that Jesus came in the flesh is of God and also that whatsoever things are of good report to think on these things.

There have been wars and rumours of wars throughout the centuries after Jesus ascension. There was the Crusades, the Inquisition and holy wars so how do you know which wars He was referring to?

And the sun has been darkened many times and so has the moon turned to blood and stars falling has been a common occurrence. So if no man knows the hour then how can one say He has or has not come unless He came quietly like a thief? What does ‘He that has eyes let him see and he that has ears let him hear mean’? Aren’t we all from birth born with eyes and ears?

And if He comes quietly like a thief and not a spectacular light show in the sky how will you know as no one knows what He looks like or has any DNA to prove it is Him?

Could it be a Great Spiritual Being like Christ who will appear but will be misunderstood like the Jews who were expecting an earthly King?

I believe that the signs accompanying His Return have been misread and that He has already come and gone as a thief. You all probably know that I believe Baha’u’llah was Christ returned in the glory of the Father. What do you think? Is it possible that as the Jews misread the signs, that once again they have been misunderstood? Is man capable of making the same mistake twice or is man’s judgement perfect and he couldn’t have possibly missed the Second Coming?
Actually, the instruction was to watch (world events/prophecy) and pray that you be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall surely come to pass.
Those counted worthy in the time just before his return will be protected from the greatest time of trouble which will ever be (great tribulation).
The description of his return is not something anyone would miss.

The Pharisees thought that He would come as a King but He came as a heavenly not an earthly king do they rejected Him.So the most learned men in the scriptures at that time got it very wrong didn’t they? Why? If they understood their prophecies correctly would they have rejected Jesus? There are commentaries by expert Christian scholars like the Anchor series which sells for over a thousand $ but despite tyeir combined learning, like the Pharisees they too missed the Second Coming and still wait.

Here are the links to the information you requested. The first one is the Tablet to the Pope of His time. And the second Tablet is one of a few to Christians to the world known as the Tablet to the Christians or the Most Holy Tablet.

The Summons of the Lord of Hosts | Bahá’í Reference Library

Tablets of Bahá’u’lláh | Bahá’í Reference Library
These simply are they from any Christian source nor any historic source that's clearly indicates Christ had returned. Beliefs are one thing, but facts are another.

But thanks anyhow for responding and the links.

Just a short addition in that I'm gonna be out of the country for a couple of days, so please guard the "fort". I also am going to use this break as an ending of a couple of very lengthy conversations as next week is going to be crazy for us because of the "tribe" coming on Thursday for Thanksgiving. Please pray that we survive! :emojconfused:

I'm definitely a rational person, so I'd love to hear what you think are the one or two prophecies that are obviously divinely inspired and have been fulfilled that no rational person could deny. Because I have yet to read a prophecy that either wasn't so vague it could mean virtually anything or was no different than an accurate prediction. So please, do enlighten me.

No, Not just 'wait' but be busy as Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8 instructs to keep on proclaiming the good news about God's kingdom ( thy kingdom come.... ) until Jesus comes.
The 'final signal ' for that coming is when the 'powers that be ' will be saying, "Peace and Security.." according to 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3

Yes Christians are looking for a second coming but according to their own expectations instead of watching. The Jews relied totally on their expectations which caused them to reject Jesus as He did not come in the manner they expected. People were told to watch because relying on ones expectations will definitely result in missing His coming. Having preconceived ideas is against Christ’s command to watch because one stops watching once one thinks one knows how He would come. That’s why they missed Him both times because of not being vigilant and watchful.
