...So can we address the topic rather than wondering when I first found out about it?

You were clear.
It's a problem which is worsening.
It has reached its current stage.
What does it portend?

Insults are akin to whataboutism, ie, a distraction from the topic.

I'm expecting a severe crackdown.
But for the moment, it appears that leaders
are watching, planning, & hoping it'll fizzle out.

Incorrect. For as long as these protests have been going, one would have to be avoiding the news to not know what it's about.
What exactly would I be whatabouting or distracting from? I sympathize with the protesters.

The post in question dissed the OP
personally, but didn't address the topic.

I thought the bill was withdrawn last month. On 10-23-2019... So why are protests continuing?

It wasn't an attack. Let's not be melodramatic.
The question "what do the protesters want?" implies a total lack of knowledge or familiarity regarding the topic, does it not? Otherwise why ask? My inquiry was fair.

If you're not trolling, then respond to the question in post #13.

...If you can't do that, and you're not willing to take part in this conversation in a productive, non-confrontational manner, then we're going to have to address this ongoing trolling issue as the problem it is.

Perhaps China's concern will be about Hong Kong finances. The protests do not mean much. It could be put down in two days with harsher methods. Who cares about a few roaches killed? It is not very wise to be protesting in China. It does not really change anything.
