Why does the Bible say that the sun moves?

Psalms 19:4-5 KJV
Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

Ecclesiastes 1:5 KJV
The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
_____
God commanded the sun to stand still for a short time:

Joshua 10:12-13 KJV
Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

It's from the earth perspective. From the perspective of someone standing on earth the sun moves.

I am so glad that we have got past the era of wooden literalist interpretation.

The sun does move.
It rotates on its axis and orbits along with our entire solar system around the center of our galaxy. However, I do not believe this is what was being alluded to in the Christian bible.

Okay, this is because the sun does move.

Roughly 95-98% of Christians and Jews now hold the view of science commonly proposed as the round Earth. However, this fails Occam's Razor even worse than theisn supposedly does.

Let me explain. A round Earth theory tells you that what you see with your own eyes is in fact backwards, that rather than watching other objects orbit us (mainly our sun and moon), instead we are spinning at a blinding 1000 mph without getting motion sick or clouds moving at high speed, and our actual orbit is faster than any space shuttle is built to keep up (yet somehow several successful re-entries have been managed). Also, if we are to take round Earth to its logical conclusion, the bottom half of the world lives upside-down and water cannot stay inside the Earth because it's convex.

No. That doesn't seem right. My senses tell me the Earth is a sphere, but we live inside it on the flat side, leaving the underside to hold lava and water and rocks and such. The atmosphere is in fact a dome, making us a sphere, but we're not all taking uphill and downhill steps on a usual basis. Also what we call north, in order to be north for the whole Earth, must actually be the center, and south in all directions is away from the center. The reason going east doesn't make you fall off is east and west are actually clockwise and counterclockwise. That is, the sun spins clockwise about the Earth at its equator and appears to dip because of the domed effect of the atmosphere.

There may be such a thing as outer space and other planets, or everything outside this Earth may be just the realm of God. It actually doesn't matter to me, so I could believe either way. NASA seems to want to explore it though, so let's give them benefit of the doubt. I save a space shuttle go off yesterday and seriously went at an angle and punched through something because the cloud behind it suddenly stopped.

Where does it state that the sun moves?
Isn't it logical that if an object comes to a stop that it had to have been moving? And:

Genesis 15:12
The sun began to go down and Abram got very sleepy. While he was asleep, a very terrible darkness came over him.

Genesis 19:23 Lot was entering the town as the sun came up,

Going requires movement. Hence for the sun to go down or come up it would have to move from one position to another.

We are on this planet in a scene of the movement of the sun
But in space we see the planet rotating around the sun
According to our location formulation
Means that the sun is intended to the earth as a reflection of human reading on earth in Mechanics of Criminology

In the Koran says that the sun and all the stars in motion to a place of stability

The Quran verse 36:38 And the sun runs towards its destination. Such is the design of the Almighty, the All-Knowing.

The sun moving to a unknown place is a black where objects gather
Because the Quran speaks a in Doomsday verse

The Quran verse 75 Doomsday

8 And the moon is eclipsed.
9 And the sun and the moon are joined together.
10 On that Day, man will say, "Where is the escape?"

The Word of God to suit the geographical locations in which we are

I'm not a big fan of the Christian bible by any stretch, but I really don't think anyone was alluding to the sun moving, rather the terminology was applied to what we experienced on earth, just as we do today . . . we all use terms such as the "rising sun" "setting sun" "as the sun moves across the sky".

The heliocentric model wasn't really formulated until the 16th century AD, well after the various Biblical sources had been written. In fact, Genesis, the book I've quoted, is thought to have been written sometime between 1450 BC and 1400 BC. So, the belief of the day was that the sun actually did rise and set on a stationary Earth, and therefore was expressed as such. So, even if the Bible never said the sun moved we know that is what was believed. Why would they believe any differently? There eyes certainly confirmed the "fact."

Now days we uses these expressions knowing full well they're not to be taken literally.

Very well, if indeed Genesis was put together around 1400 BC then the world believed in Geocentrism at that point. That aside, what is the point here? That the Christian bible is not the word of Yahweh or something along those lines?

In some religious/mythological Stories of Creation, the central light in the Milky Way is interpreted by scholars as the Sun, i.e. as "the First Light"

Most people now think the planets revolve around the sun, in roughly circular or elliptical orbits.
This is incorrect.
Nice video :) And as the Solar System is an integrated part of the Milky Way rotation around its center, it is logical to assume our Solar System also is an integrated part of the Milky Way formation in its center, just like the planets in our Solar System once were formed out from the Sun.

It is nice to extrapolate from that video and visualise the intricate helical lacework of all the stars and planets in the galaxy.

It is a mind blowing image.

You can’t get an app to see that, but you can simulate it in your brain.

In addition, it is very interesting also to look at the formation proces in galaxies as governed by electromagnetism where the helical motion in electromagnetism is very similar to the motion in your video.
Watch more in this video: "Electric currents creates magnetic fields in galaxies". To me it seems very likely that our Solar System got its initial rotations and spiralling orbital motions momentum directly from the swirling galactic center.

It sounds like they're fishing for other theories.

Having labored under the notion of a heliocentric universe, I eventually concluded it simply doesn't make any sense. The Earth would be moving and spinning so fast that we humans would notice epic hurricanes all the time. So would inanimate objects. For Earth to move at the rate of a 24 hour day (instead of it simply taking an object already superheated, and thus explanable at this speed) requires far too much work.

The sun orbits the Earth. Why is this so hard to believe? But but this guy saw it with a telescope. Did he really? Even though looking at the sun with his naked eye would blind him, and telescopes don't give any protection? So what exactly did he see, and why should we believe it? After all, standards of proof weren't great in those days. I think the reason ppl accept this theory as fact is because some guy was punished by the church, and it's less an actual proof by fact and more a bandwagon against the church.

This guy is showing by a sunset how things are bogus, looking at models and how things don't work with them.
