What would you like to achieve or accomplish in life?

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Is this quote, attributed to Margaret Mead, really accurate, and has any individual done so? Individuals from any particular religion might be assumed to have done this but is this true or more about those that followed? What do we mean by change rather than perhaps natural development?

What would you like to achieve as an individual or along with others? And how would you achieve this or are doing so?

Some additional quotes along these lines:

"Let him who would move the world first move himself." ― Socrates
"Be the change that you wish to see in the world." ― Mahatma Gandhi
"The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Steve Jobs
"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." - Theodore Roosevelt

"To effect change, do that in life which no other could have done." - I probably made this up.

I would like to accomplish the abolition of blasphemy laws on Earth, but can’t do it alone even though i’m happy to put the effort into trying :)

Actually find someone to marry and build a life with, with whom there's no religious compromise.

Mine are probably simpler and less ambitious than most.
  • Do my best to help those that solicit my help.
  • Make at least one person laugh every day.
  • Promote happiness and smiles from those I come into contact with.
  • Make everyone's day who I come into contact with a little better.

Only the single thing I have wanted since I was a kid. To be a published writer, but at this stage in my life I would settle for a single published novel. But maybe I'll only be one of those writers who becomes famous after I've died.

I have some extended, dreamy goals; but my realistic goals are to help my nieces and nephews as they get older. I would also like for me and my siblings to outlive my father, which is likely. I also intend to become proficient in many math skills and problem solving skills, because I want to make gadgets. I'm also working on other technical skills like programming, cooking, knot tying and construction. Catching up on my reading is a stretch goal, too; but its unlikely I'll catch up on that. There are always more things to read.

To the quote, yes it's happened. Mahatma Gandhi is one example. Martin Luther King is another. If the time is right, a small group lights a spark that ignites an important change.

It's not too late to start getting ready for NaNoWriMo if you've never done it before. It truly is a great resource to get a novel through its first draft or, if nothing else, an exercise in just getting words to a page on a schedule. NaNoWriMo

Most of the comments have been about personal achievements, but I did also mean in the sense of change that might affect others much more - as per Gandhi and MLK. I wonder if Greta Thunberg will be in this category.

Great about Greta. She is speaking for many in her generation. We'll see if that continues or some other person's voice will next surface.
